Remember the following three truth’s from our beloved
Scriptures!
“Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, neither shall ye
diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה
אֱלֹהֵיכֶם (the LORD your
Elohim) which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2.
“This is My Name FOREVER, and this is My Memorial to ALL Generations”. Shemot - Exodus 3:15. (JPS).
“I am יְהוָה, that is My Name; and My glory will I not give to another”. Yeshayahu - Isaiah 42:8. (JPS).

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.
“Be strong and courageous. Be careful to obey the entire Torah My servant Moshe has given you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Torah depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

“We are Not Alone when in Distress
“For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is light (אוֹר - Or)” Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs of Solomon 6:23 (JPS-1917).
There is no doubt that this teaching is Light:
This is a very special study, for it is all about teaching us that there is light even when we think that we are living in a time of darkness, and that certain things in our lives is not going very well, it can even be going horribly wrong. Please take my word for it, our beloved Elohim, our ever loving Creator is and will always be with you, just make sure that you allow Him to be part of your life, thus make sure that you keep your door open!
We should remember that it was יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ - the LORD our Elohim, בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - ‘Baruch Shem Kadosho’ - ‘Blessed be His Holy Name’, who accompanied us at every point during our sojourn in exile, to ensure that we as a nation would never be destroyed through our sufferings. Elohim spoke to Ya’aqov - Jacob;
“And Elohim spoke unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said: ‘Ya’aqov, Ya’aqov’. And he said: ‘Here am I’. And He said: ‘I am El, the Elohei of thy father; fear not to go down into Egypt … I will go down with thee into Egypt’” Bereshit - Genesis 46:2, 3-4. (JPS-1917).
And again we read in Yeshayahu - Isaiah 43:14. (JPS).
“Thus saith יְהוָה, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon”.
Thus what we have learnt, wherever B’Nei
Yisrael went into exile, the Divine presence always went with us. When we were
exiled to Babylon our Creator was also with us. No matter where we were sent
Elohim, blessed be He, has never left us, and we should never forget that, and
thank him for Him being ever present, and thus we can call on Him for His help
and guidance!
When we the Hebrews or even a single Hebrew is
in distress, יְהוָה
אֱלֹהִים - the LORD Elohim,
blessed be His Holy Name, He is always with us!
“I will be with him in trouble; I will
rescue him”. Tehillim - Psalms 91:15. (JPS).
At such times Elohim, blessed be He, watches and supervises, weighs and measures the extent of Israel’s sufferings. If He sees that they have reached the limit of their endurance, or (El willing) that they have wholeheartedly repented, He will ensure that the nations will leave B’Nei Yisrael in peace.
The verse quoted above continues:
“I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him, and bring him to honour. With long life will I satisfy him, and make him to behold My salvation”. Tehillim - Psalms 91:15-16 (JPS).
And as we can see this refers to the individual Hebrew, and all we have to do is return to אֱלֹהִים - Elohim with all our heart. But what really amazes me is that His mercy is immeasurable, for אֱלֹהִים even heard the cry of the groaning Israelites in Mitzraim when they were slaves and at large they were sadly not worshipping Him, but some of them worshiped other deities. For it clearly states, in spite that they did and not repent or even call out to their אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, but simply groaned in their misery and pain, however our אֱלֹהִים was still there and He heard them!
“I have heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage; and I have remembered My covenant” Shemot - Exodus 6:5 (JPS).
Thus if He hears our cry, even if they are not faithful, how much more will יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim be willing to help and guide us whenever you are in need?
אֱלֹהִים saves individuals from their suffering, causing a change of heart within those among whom He dwells, for their hearts are in His Hands. A similar theme appears in the prayer of King Shlomo - Solomon.
“If they sin against Thee for there is no man that sinneth not and Thou be angry with them, and deliver them to the enemy, so that they carry them away captive unto the land of the enemy, far off or near; yet if they shall bethink themselves in the land whither they are carried captive, and turn back, and make supplication unto Thee in the land of them that carried them captive, saying: We have sinned, and have done iniquitously, we have dealt wickedly; if they return unto Thee with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies, who carried them captive, and pray unto Thee toward their land, which Thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which Thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for Thy name; then hear Thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven Thy dwelling-place, and maintain their cause; and forgive Thy people who have sinned against Thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against Thee; and give them compassion before those who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them” Melachim - Kings 1, 8:46-50 (JPS).
The following is the reply from Elohim, blessed be He;
“I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before Me” Melachim - Kings 1, 9:3 (JPS).
I am well aware that our lives can bring us various tribulations, but do not blame our Heavenly Father, for our problems tend to be a part of the way of the world, and it is the pain that can be afflicted by mankind, be it evil, or diseases, or introduced problems, and all too often people blame our Heavenly Father. Turn to Him and allow Him to be your comfort, and allow Him to give you Rest, Life and Strength!
Seek Elohim and Receive Rest:
“I love them that love Me, and those that seek Me earnestly shall find Me” Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs of Solomon 8:17 (JPS).
“But from thence ye will seek יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ - the LORD thy Elohim; and thou shalt find Him, if thou search after Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul” Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:29 (JPS).
“And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart” Yirmyahu - Jeremiah 29:13 (JPS).
Seeking Elohim Gives You Life:
“For thus saith יְהוָה unto the house of Israel: Seek ye Me, and live” Amnos - Amos 5:4 (JPS).
“The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek יְהוָה will praise him, may your hearts live forever” Tehillim - Psalm 22:27 (JPS).
“The humble shall see it, and be glad; ye that seek after אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, let your heart revive” Tehillim - Psalm 69:33 (JPS).
Those Who Seek Elohim Find Strength:
His strength is limitless. When we become weak
from extreme pressure and our hands tremble with fear, אֱלֹהִים, blessed be He, strengthens and steadies our way. It’s in those
lowest moments where His strength shines the brightest. Here we mount the
“wings of eagles” to soar above the earthly circumstances, to not
grow weary.
“But they that wait for יְהוָה - the LORD, shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 40:31 (JPS).
“Seek יְהוָה
and His strength; Seek His
face continually” Divre Hay’yamim 1 - Chronicles 1, 16:11
“Glory ye in His Holy Name; let the heart of them rejoice that seek יְהוָה. Seek ye יְהוָה and His strength; seek His face continually” Tehillim - Psalm 105:3-4 (JPS).
I pray that you will have found comfort in this study, but above all that you will look up and allow אֱלֹהִים - Elohim to work in your life and make all the improvements that are required. It will always be a work that needs to be done in unity, for it is living in His will and whilst you are being a good faithful, prayerful Torah abiding Hebrew, it will be done!
“Thou makest me to know the path of life; in Thy presence is fullness of joy” Tehillim - Psalms 16:11 (JPS).
