“Tampered Tehillim”

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

This page sadly covers the removing our Heavenly Father’s Name from parts of our beloved Tanakh! Sadly they were tempered with between the 7th and 10th centuries CE and they replaced the Sanctified Name with אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God).

The only true and factual Scriptures contain the whole truth of the Tanakh which is our closed Word that contains actual and factual reports of events and the blessed Word’s and Commandments of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God). However there have been made changes as well as countless additions added, all being concocted by rabbis long after the destruction of the Mishkan and the truth is they are all fake! There are countless verses located in the Torah as well as in the rest of the Tanakh! Below are just two verses, which make’s a very strong statement about not touching or changing יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים - YHVH God’s most blessed Word!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם- יְהוָה(the LORD your God) which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS).

Add thou not unto His words, lest He reprove thee, and thou be found a liar”. Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs 30:6. (JPS).

Sadly, there have been some rabbinic changes made, as they literarily substituted the Name of יְהוָה to אֱלֹהִים - Elohim. Ask yourself who gave them permission to alter anything?

The tampering of our most Holy scriptures the Tanakh!

Below I will provide the truth of the matter how all these changes have been made and by who!

The facts prove that the so-called Masoretic Text was written (or better said ‘altered’) by a collective group of Jewish rabbis’ “who are called ‘scholars’”, who became known as the ‘Masoretes’ between the 7th and 10th centuries CETheir work involved altering certain verses, by removing the blessed Name and replacing it with אֱלֹהִים - Elohim). However, they did this also to other textual notes throughout our beloved Tanakh.

Although the question arises what was stated above: “Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it”. Who gave them the authority to remove our beloved Elohim’s Name, blessed be He.

As I have already stated they also made similar changes to various other verses throughout the Tanakh and they deliberately removed the most Sacred Name יְהוָה (YHVH) and replaced it 7 times with אֱלֹהִים - Elohim!

Let us read Tehillim - Psalm 53 translation uses ‘God’, however in the Ivrit it is always אֱלֹהִים:

Please Note: This Tehillim has been taken directly from the JPS, 1917 version, being one of the very best translations available!

1 “For the Leader; upon Mahalath. Maschil of David. 2 The fool hath said in his heart: ‘There is no God’; they have dealt corruptly, and have done abominable iniquity; there is none that doeth good. 3 God looked forth from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any man of understanding, that did seek after God. 4 Every one of them is unclean, they are together become impure; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 5. 'Shall not the workers of iniquity know it, who eat up My people as they eat bread, and call not upon God?' 6 There are they in great fear, where no fear was; for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee; Thou hast put them to shame, because God hath rejected them. 7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God turneth the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad”.

Where is the blessed Divine Name gone to in this Psalm: Dead Sea Scrolls (DSS 11Q5) vs. the Masoretic text, as back then it contained the blessed and Holy Name יְהוָה - בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - Baruch Shem Kadosho - Blessed be His Holy Name!

Let us look at the DSS 11Q5 Evidence for יְהוָה:

The Dead Sea Scrolls fragment known as 11Q5 preserves Tehillim - Psalm 53 in Hebrew, and in that ancient copy the divine Name יְהוָה clearly appears, just as it does in the parallel passage Tehillim - Psalm 14. This shows that the earliest Hebrew witnesses to this Tehillim read the covenant Name rather than the attribute of the Almighty, being אֱלֹהִים.

Masoretic Text’s Use of אֱלֹהִים:

By the time the Masoretes standardized or altered parts of the Tanakh, Tehillim - Psalm 53 so much so it now consistently uses אֱלֹהִים (“God”) instead of יְהוָה (“LORD”). They made editorial shifts, which was forbidden by אֱלֹהִים - Elohim!

Why the Change Matter:

Differing nuances: יְהוָה highlights the personal, covenantal relationship; and אֱלֹהִים underscores sovereignty over the whole world.

Beyond Tehillim - Psalm 53, we see similar substitutions in other psalms and prophetic books where אֱלֹהִים and יְהוָה swapping places.

Let us now look into a comprehensive Analysis of Divine Name Variants in Psalm 53:

Overview of Textual Witnesses:

Amazingly Tehillim - Psalm 53 appears to have certain other for in the “Ancient Masoretic Text (AMT), the relevant verses have all been changed to אֱלֹהִים - Elohim. However in Tehillim - Psalm 14 they somehow decided to use the ‘tetragrammaton’ יְהוָה (YHVH). However in the second-century BCE copy from Qumran (11Q5, the Great Psalms Scroll - DSS) preserves Tehillim - Psalm 53 (as I already stated above) and it has the original יְהוָה in those same positions, aligning it with Psalm 14’s, thus it proves that the change to אֱלֹהִים is a much later and a deliberate editorial alteration! However later versions have changed the true writings as we will see below.

Let us look at just two of the Verses for comparison:

Again Note: AMT = Ancient Masoretic Text & DSS = Dead Sea Srolls!

We should understand that the regular Masoretic Text’s makes use of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim instead of יְהוָה in Tehillim - Psalm 53 represents for some weird reason, a deliberate editorial choice, whilst the relevant “Dead Sea Scroll” proves to us, as well as confirming that the attribute - אֱלֹהִים - Elohim replaced the original script being the blessed tetragrammaton יְהוָה in Tehillim - Psalm 53, as well as in other sections of the Tanakh.

Without doubt these rabbinic scribes simply went against יְהוָה - YHVH Commands and they tragically “diminished Him from the Word!” Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. & Shlomo - Proverbs 30:6. (JPS).
