Remember the following three truth’s from our beloved Tanakh!

Parashat Be’midbar - Numbers

Numbers 8:1 -12:16.

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

Just before the study, I would like to commence with one more important quote from Yahushua - Joshua Ch 1:7-8. (JPS-1917).

“Be strong and courageous. Be careful to obey the entire Torah My servant Moshe has given you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Torah depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Parashat Be’midbar - Numbers

Numbers 8:1 -12:16.

Introduction:

בְּהַעֲלֹתְךָ - “Beha’alotcha” is a Hebrew word meaning “when you set up,” “when you ascend”, or “when you light or raise”. It is the name of the 36th weekly Torah portion and refers to a command in the text for Aaron to “raise” (light) the Menorah in the מִשְׁכָּן - Tabernacle.

As we commence to look Parsahat “Be’midbar - Numbers”, we will find that there is a great deal going on in this Torah portion. We will be looking at what “Beha’alotcha”, (Numbers 8:1 -12:16) ranging from the lighting of the seven branched Menorah, the consecration of the priests, the description of the necessary elements of the Passover sacrifice, the journey through the wilderness with details about the marching order, and the way the Divine’s presence was made manifest.

We know that sadly there was  large number of bad ones that continually complained, and amazingly they even whished that they were back in Egypt where they had the best fruits and vegetables available instead of the manna that tastes like coriander, which led to a revolt.

The situation culminates with a moment in which Moshe - Moses complains to אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God).

“And Moshe said יְהוָה - the LORD, why have You dealt ill with Your servant, and why have I not enjoyed Your favour, that You have laid the burden of all this people upon me? Did I conceive all this people, did I bear them, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your bosom as a nurse carries an infant,’ to the land that You have promised on oath to their fathers?”

This exchange ends with Moshe complaining even further about the burden of leadership. Moshe is then told that the burden will be shared with the seventy elders, even as the people are punished for their complaining and sins.

The Torah portion ends with the well-known story of Acharon - Aaron and Miryam - Miriam talking to one another about Moshe being favoured, which leads to Miriam (who is credited with doing most of the talking) to be stricken with scales (a skin disease). There is a great deal of talking throughout this parasha, but at this moment, when Miriam is stricken, the speech becomes simple and direct. These are the words we use as a community when we pray for healing in Hebrew, (“O אֱלֹהִים, pray heal her!”).

After his long diatribe about how he is overwhelmed by the burden of caring for the people, Moshe utters five words, eleven letters in Hebrew. His words come from a place deep within, with each word other than אֱלֹהִים (God’s) name ending in a vowel. It is a cry coming from deep within his soul. These words are true supplication. One could imagine that each word is punctuated with an exclamation point “אֱלֹהִים! Please! Heal! Please! Her!” The central idea of this prayer is clearly visible when written this way. It is clearly a plea for help, for intervention, for relief. It is a plea for action!

This is where we are at this moment. Words will no longer suffice. The action, the intervention, the relief that we are asking for is on us. We need healing and our world needs healing. Although we may ask the Source of All for strength at this moment, the work is on us. May we begin the journey of healing our broken world together.

In Conclusion, a Question to Deepen the Conversation:

Which part of the Tanakh study, or possibly a particular line or statement within it has touched you the most? And how do you feel about spending more time studying our beloved Tanakh? I pray that you are doing well as a faithful Hebrew, and אֱלֹהִים - Elohim willing you are upholding as many of our blessed Mitzvoth’s?

I am well aware that the modern world sadly contains far too many deviations as well as problems that seem to get in the way of our Hebrew lifestyle. Yet worse than that, these days there are far too many enticements, which can so easily throw many off track, and I know that has happened far too much. Thus, if there are struggles that are taking place in your life, be it at this or at any time, I am well aware that sadly it can often have a terrible and a cruel effect upon your life?

Dear reader, please remember this, pray for peace and solitude in your life, and then work on keeping as calm as possible and learn to improve your life, for אֱלֹהִים,  בָּרוּךְ אֱלֹהִים - Bless Elohim, He is always there and ready to help and guide you!

This site was originally set up for those who needed to return to our blessed and wonderful faith, thus be wise and work on your faith and pray at least two or of possible three times a day and always seek אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s guidance!

Remember what אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, blessed be He, said the following via a number of our prophets...

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָהthe LORD of hosts”. Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. MEC).
