Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

However, sadly both the later priests as well as our rabbis of long ago and of today have, and are shamefully disobeying this command of אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - ‘Baruch Shem Kadosho’ – ‘Blessed be His Holy Name!’

“You are what you Eat

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

I would like to commence with one more important quote from Yahushua - Joshua Ch 1:7-8. (JPS-1917).

“Be strong and courageous. Be careful to obey the entire Torah My servant Moshe has given you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Torah depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”.

Introduction:

There are many interesting sayings about the eating habits of the average person. One such saying is that “we dig our graves with our teeth” and another is “we are what we eat!”

“And put a knife to thy throat, if thou be a man given to appetite”. Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs 23:2. (JPS-1917).

There is a great deal of truth in the above saying and it is unfortunate that in the land of plenty we tend to eat so poorly. We may ask, do I mean we eat inexpensively? No certainly not, for everyone who buys the groceries these days knows very well that food prices these days are anything but cheap. In addition it seems that food has lost a great deal of its nourishment by the time we get to eat it, as so much of it has been highly processed: even fruit and vegetables can be held in cold storage for many months and meat is frequently kept pumped up with preservatives, even though in many parts of the world this is illegal, but many butchers and supermarkets still do it and get away with it! Countless doctors and scientists have stated the following about many of those so-called healthy “heart approved” breakfast cereals, “There is as much food value in the cardboard box than those breakfast cereals come in, as in the cereal itself.” This is just another example of good money being spent for poor nutrition.

If it is true that we are what we eat, then we should be careful what we eat because it matters what we are.

That wonderful servant of יְהוָה - the LORD, blessed be His Sanctified Name, Daniel recognised his responsibility to אֱלֹהִים -Elohim, blessed be He; therefore He “Decided” in his heart that he would not defile himself with ‘the portion of the king’s meat, or the wine that he drank’. It took a great deal of courage to speak up and refuse to eat the meat of the king, but Daniel found it important enough to take a stand, and frankly so should we, for there are things we simply accept, which are, in fact, wrong!

I could ask you, do you take a stand for what you believe? We may not be under the massive trial that Daniel found himself in, but we certainly need wisdom to: “refuse the evil and choose that which is good.”

This applies to many more things than the food we eat of course, but if good nutrition is necessary for good health then we should make every effort to “eat well so that we can live well, and it must be Kosher of course!

When we live in poor health our service to Elohim will certainly be impaired. Of course we can serve Him wherever we are and I know many who have been in a hospital bed. If we are sick then we can still pray and serve Him as well as we can, but the point is we should do our utmost to be well in order that we can serve יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים - the LORD Elohim, with vigour!

As important as our physical health is, our spiritual health is even more vital in the service of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim. Here again it is our diet that determines our health. If we are what we eat physically, we are certainly what we eat spiritually. What are we feeding the spiritual man or woman?

Where there is meat for those who are willing to partake of it, the Word of יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים – the LORD Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, is there to make us wise and able to return lost ones to our wonderful faith, into redemption, and return to their Creator, blessed be His Sanctified Name. A return with repentance is available unto all who will return again unto Elohim!

Remember what אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, blessed be He, said through a number of our prophets.

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָה- the LORD of hosts”. Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. MEC).

But sadly there are far too few who choose to digest the Word of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim on a daily basis. Yirmyahu - Jeremiah found the Word of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim to be delicious, and thus he said;

“Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and Thy Words were unto me a joy and the rejoicing of my heart; because Thy Name was called on me, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵי צְבָאוֹת - O LORD Elohei of hosts”. Yirmyahu - Jeremiah 15:16. (JPS-1917).

There is food all around us, but much of it is as nourishing as a cardboard box, such are certain rabbinic books that claim to be ‘holy’, but they were just works of rabbis so long ago. Just for interest, I am obviously an Orthodox Hebrew, I was taught by a most wonderful rabbi (may he rest peace) in the Netherlands not to read certain books written by men that are supposed to be about HIS Word, for יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים – the LORD Elohim did not wish me to be indoctrinated with false Mitzvoth and occultic kabalistic doctrines. I found this to be valuable, for looking back I can see the countless errors within our faith and those manmade laws, which in a way have led Israel astray and we know that that אֱלֹהִים - Elohim gave Moshe 613 Mitzvoth, and there are absolutely no more!

We just have to face the truth and stand on the Word and on solid ground on He who is יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים - YHVH Elohim, בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - ‘Baruch Shem Kadosho’ - ‘Blessed be His Holy Name’!

If we are wise we can choose foods that give us real nutrition. Sadly, all those books by Rabbis of the past, feed our minds garbage and should be avoided. If we are wise we will choose אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s Word and meditate in His Word day and night. Let us be wise and obey His Word. He knew what to eat and Yeshayahu - Isaiah speaking of Him, said;

Butter and honey shall He eat, that He may know to refuse the evil and choose good.” Yesheyahu - Isaiah 7:15. (JPS-1917).

It is time we stopped being led astray with those man made works, which are not from Elohim, but are 100% man made, such as the evil and occultic ‘Zohar’ which ended up in the mystical and occultic ‘Kabbalah’, and which in turn influenced the Taulmud. Rabbis have led ur blessed faith far astray!

Therefore return to only reading the blessed Word of אֱלֹהִים - בָּרוּךְ-הוּא - blessed be He, being our sacred Tanakh!

In Conclusion, a Question to Deepen the Conversation:

Which part of this Tanach study or possibly a particular line or statement within it has touched you the most? And how do you feel about spending more time studying our beloved Tanakh? I pray that you are doing well as a faithful Hebrew, and אֱלֹהִים - Elohim willing you are upholding as many as possible of our blessed Mitzvoth’s?

I am well aware that the modern world sadly contains too many deviations as well as problems that seem to get in the way of our Hebrew lifestyle. Yet worse than that, these days there are far too many enticements, which can so easily throw many off track, and I know that has happened far too much. Thus, if there are struggles that are taking place in your life, be it at this or at any time, I am well aware that sadly it can often have a terrible and a cruel effect upon your life?

Dear reader, please remember this, pray for peace and solitude in your life, and then work on keeping as calm as possible and learn to improve your life, for אֱלֹהִים,  blessed be He, for He is always there and ready to help and guide you!

This site was originally set up for those who needed to return to our blessed and wonderful faith, thus be wise and work on your faith and pray at least three times a day, and always seek אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s guidance!

Remember what אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, blessed be He, said the following via a number of our prophets...

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָהthe LORD of hosts”. Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. (JPS-1917).

And Remember ...

Enjoy your Sabbath Rest, Shabbat Shalom!

אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶםבְּחֻקּוֹתַי לֵכוּוְאֶת-מִשְׁפָּטַי שִׁמְרוּוַעֲשׂוּ אוֹתָם

“I am אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD our Elohim; walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them; and hallow My Sabbaths, and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה – the LORD Elohim”. Yechezkel - Ezekiel 20:19-20. (JPS-1917).
