Remember the following three truth’s from our beloved Scriptures!
“Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם (the LORD your Elo’lei’chem) which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).
“This is My Name FOREVER, and this is My Memorial to ALL Generations”. Shemot - Exodus 3:15. (JPS).
“I am יְהוָה, that is My Name; and My glory
will I not give to another”. Yeshayahu - Isaiah 42:8. (JPS).

Just before the study, I would like to commence with one more important quote from the book of Yahushua - Joshua Ch 1:7-8. (JPS-1917).
“Be strong and courageous. Be careful to obey the entire Torah My servant Moshe has given you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Torah depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

In moments of transition, fear, or uncertainty, thankfully the Hebrew Scriptures offer’s not only commands to be strong, but what we can be.
Davarim - Deuteronomy 31:6 and Yeshayahu - Isaiah 41:10 are two special verses, spoken across centuries yet echoing the same divine assurance: “I am with you.”
In Devarim Moshe we see nearing the end of his life, and he charges Israel to face the unknown with courage, not because the path is easy, but because יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ - the LORD your Elo’hei’cha (God) is with them.
Then centuries later, the prophet Yeshayahu - Isaiah speaks to exiles in Babylon, reminding them that even in dispersion, they are not abandoned, for אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God) strengthens, helps, and upholds with a “right hand of righteousness.”
Of course I will first cover Deuteronomy 31:6 first. What I will be covering in this relatively short study is to open our thoughts on faith, which can at times be under pressure for some times for various reasons.
Think about it, have you ever felt like you “walked with” Elohim, blessed be He.
After Davarim
- Deuteronomy 31:6, we will also look at Yeshayahu
- Isaiah 41:10.
Regarding the two verses in this study, both will be arranged as follows: Each verse will be shown in Ivrit - Hebrew, then a Transliteration, followed by the English Translation.
Chiz’ku ve’im’zu, al-tiru ve’al-ta’artzu mip’nei’hem; ki Adonai Elo’hei’cha, Hu ha‘ho’lech imach’ yar’pe’cha, ve’lo ya’az’veka.
“Be strong and of good courage, fear not, nor be affrighted at
them; for יְהוָה
אֱלֹהֶיךָ - the LORD thy Elo’hei’cha,
He it is that doth go with thee; He will not fail thee, nor forsake thee”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 31:6. (JPG-1917).
Commentary and Reflection 1:
Strength in Divine Companionship.
This verse is spoken by Moshe - Moses to the people of Yisrael - Israel as they prepare to cross into the long awaited Promised Land under Yahushua - Joshua’s leadership. It is a charge of courage, rooted not in military strength or personal confidence, but in Divine presence.
Chiz’ku ve’im’zu - “Be strong and courageous” is a recurring scriptural formula for a spiritual and moral resolve.
Al-tiru … mip’nei’hem - The fear of enemies was real, but, thankfully the command is to resist intimidation.
Hu ha’holech imach - Elohim’s companionship is the source of strength. The verb הֹלֵךְ - Ho’lech (walking) implies ongoing presence, not a one-time intervention.
Lo ya’rpecha, ve’lo ya’azveka - These verbs assure that Elohim blessed be He, will neither loosen His grip nor abandon His people. As we have seen, the language is without a doubt most beautifully, intimate and covenantal.
I can relate the above with a very special verse from Yeshayahu - Isaiah 41:10.
Again first in Hebrew, Transliteration, and English.
אַל-תִּירָא
כִּי
עִמְּךָ-אָנִי,
אַל-תִּשְׁתָּע
כִּי-אֲנִי
אֱלֹהֶיךָ;
אִמַּצְתִּיךָ,
אַף-עֲזַרְתִּיךָ-אַף-תְּמַכְתִּיךָ,
בִּימִין
צִדְקִי
Al-ti’ra ki
im’cha ani; al-tish’ta ki ani
Elo’hei’cha. Im’mat’ti’cha, af-a’zar’ticha; af-te’mach’ticha be’ye’min tzid’ki.
“Fear thou not, for I am with thee, be not dismayed, for I am thy אֱלֹהִים; I strengthen thee, yea, I help thee; yea, I uphold thee with My victorious right hand”.
This verse provides a Divine reassurance spoken to Israel whilst in exile, echoing themes of covenantal presence and sustaining power.
Commentary and Reflection 2:
Al-tira … al-tishta - Two commands against fear and dismay, grounded not in circumstances but in divine companionship.
Im’cha ani … ani Elo’hei’cha - אֱלֹהֶיךָ- Eloheicha’s presence is personal and covenantal: “I am with you… I am your אֱלֹהִים אֱלֹהִים”.
Immatzticha… azarticha… temachticha - A triple promise: strengthening, helping, and upholding. The repetition intensifies the assurance.
Yemin tzidki - “My right hand of righteousness” evokes both power and justice. אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s support is not arbitrary but it is morally grounded.
I pray that the contents of this study will encourage growth of your faith, following that which was so greatly loved by those who were faithful Hebrews so long ago!
