With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.
“Be strong and courageous. Be careful to obey the entire Torah My servant Moshe has given you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Torah depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Introduction:
The Hebrew תְּפִלָּה - Tefeelah’s - Prayers for healing holds a profound place in our tradition, reflecting the deep connection between faith and well-being.
Prayer is a cornerstone of our Hebrew faith and it serves not just as a means of communication with the Divine but also as a source of solace and strength during times of illness and distress. The role of prayer in seeking healing and comfort is deeply embedded in our beloved faith, offering a way to express hope, trust, and a desire for recovery.
In our tradition, the act of praying for healing is far more than just a mere ritual; it is a heartfelt plea for אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s (God), blessed be He, intervention and a call for spiritual and physical restoration. Our prayer for healing encompasses various prayers and rituals designed to invoke אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s blessed mercy and benevolence, seeking both physical recovery and emotional fortitude. This blessed practice underscores the belief that through prayer, individuals can find not only comfort but also a renewed sense of connection to their faith and community.
On this study there is a compilation of some well-known and meaningful Hebrew prayers and its texts are associated with healing. These include traditional prayers based from Tehillim - Psalms, and other texts often used for invoking healing and comfort.
Below are ten prayers for healing but I have provided them in English, with each offering ‘comfort’,’ solace’, and a plea for אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s intervention. with the most popular prayer, Mi Shebeirach I have added a transliteration!
Please Note: In
the prayers I have added the blessed “Name” of our heavenly Father in Hebrew; 1.
יְהוָה - ‘the LORD’, 2. אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - ‘the LORD Elohim’, and 3. אֱלֹהִים
- ‘Elohim’, being our beloved Heavenly
Father’s “attribute”!

These prayers can be used as-is or adapted to fit specific needs and personal circumstances, offering spiritual support and a sense of connection to אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, during times of illness.
May these words above be a companion at the bedside, a bridge between heart and community, and a humble plea for אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s compassion and renewal. May those who are ill be granted healing, courage, and the comfort of loving presence?
I pray that the above will comfort those beloved ones who are ill, but also pray for those who are not related, or for those on you have heard off. It is vital we do this for anyone who is in need!
