Remember the following three truth’s from our beloved Scriptures!

תְּפִלָּה

Tefeelah - Prayer

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

Welcome to this brief look of a popular prayer, as seen below. It is first in Ivrit - Hebrew, followed by a Transliteration, and then the Translation!

Transliteration:

Yi’va’rekh Adonai Eloheinu Tzevaot, et’me’la’chei yad’einu ve‘et div’rei s’fa’tenu, be’cha’vod u’viz’ku’ron et’ha’a’sher ha’yu lif’nei’nu ve’et ha’notz’rim im’anu be’emu’nah uv’shi’mur ha’mitz’vot. Yach’a’zek Adonai ba’nu v’ya’at’zim a’mei’nu be’che’sed; hi’ge’nu be’choch’mah v’yitmach ba’nu be’Torat ha’e’munah l’dor vador”. Amen, ken yehi ratzon.

Translation:

“May the Eternal One, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ - (the LORD Elohim of Hosts), bless the work of our hands and the words of our lips as we honour those who have been before us and those with us in faith and upholding the Mitzvoth. May our/your communities be strengthened and be guided by kindness, and sustained by the wisdom of all those who teach and who follow our blessed Torah, faithfully!” Amen, may it be our will.

Let me now add a Concise Translation of this prayer:

“May the Eternal One bless the work of our hands and the words of our lips. May we honour past teachers and support those who keep the mitzvot. May our communities grow stronger through kindness and the wisdom of teachers and learners?” Amen.

There are three important questions for you to consider:

1 ... Which specific “work of our handsdo we most want blessed this week?

3 ... Who in our community represents the “wisdom of those who teach”? How can we sustain them practically?

3... How do we honour those who came before us while also supporting those beside us now?

This wonderful prayer gathers our deepest hopes into one clear plea: that יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים – blessed be His Holy Name, will bless the work of our hands and the words of our lips, encouraging our communities to live in kindness, and preserve the chain of Torah, wisdom from generation to generation. It names those of the past, who we honour, the present we sustain, and the future we pledge to build together.

May the words of the prayer, sharpen our intentions and move us to an act of caring and teaching His Word!

In Conclusion, a Question to Deepen the Conversation:

Which part of the Tanakh study, or possibly a particular line or statement within it has touched you the most? And how do you feel about spending more time studying our beloved Tanakh? I pray that you are doing well as a faithful Hebrew, and אֱלֹהִים - Elohim willing you are upholding as many of our blessed Mitzvoth’s?

Dear reader, please remember this, pray for peace and solitude in your life, and then work on keeping as calm as possible and learn to improve your life, for אֱלֹהִים -  בָּרוּךְ אֱלֹהִים - Bless Elohim, He is always there and ready to help and guide you!
