Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

However, sadly both the later priests as well as our rabbis of long ago have shamefully disobeyed this command of אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - ‘Baruch Shem Kadosho’ – ‘Blessed be His Holy Name!’

 “Wonders of the Hebrew Language”

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

How fortunate we are, having Ivrit, the Hebrew Language:

I have been asked the question some time ago; “Is Hebrew still part of the Jewish mainstream?” Frankly this was nothing but a weird question, for Hebrew is the language of the Hebrews, and it is used every single day, during our prayers and worship, and of course it is the language in the country of Israel!

Therefore, Hebrew is one of the oldest languages still spoken to this very today, it carries not just ‘sound’ and ‘syntax’, but ‘spirit’ and ‘story’. It is rooted in thousands of years of Hebrew tradition; Hebrew quotes are often concise yet profound, layered with ‘cultural’, ‘religious’, and ‘emotional depth. There are timeless sayings, drawn from our sacred texts, proverbs, poetry, and modern reflection’s, offer windows into the values and philosophies of the Hebrew people.

Whether you seek ‘strength’, ‘hope’, ‘wisdom’, or simply ‘a deeper understanding of the human journey’, Hebrew quotes and their translations invite you to ‘pause’, ‘reflect’, and connect with ancient truths still relevant today’.

Hebrew isn’t just a language; it’s a tapestry of ‘memory’, ‘spirituality’, and ‘vision’. From its scriptural origins to contemporary Israeli literature, Hebrew sayings offer clarity in ‘confusion’, ‘resilience in hardship’, and ‘gratitude in simplicity’. They are not just words they’re meditations.

The richness of these quotes lies in their ability to communicate vast truths in just a few words. For instance, a three-word Hebrew phrase may echo centuries of theological debate or familial love. You don’t need to be fluent in Hebrew to feel the pulse of its heart.

Hebrew is often called “lashon hakodesh” (the holy tongue). Every letter has spiritual significance; every word, layered meanings. Many Hebrew quotes derive from our sacred Torah (Five Books of Moses, and the Tanakh being the name of the whole of our Holy writings, and are imbued with sacred depths. The truth is the Torah/Tanakh is our ONLY Holy writings!

But what is so special with Hebrew? Take the beautiful Hebrew word ‘Shalom, for example. While commonly translated as “peace”, it also implies ‘wholeness’, ‘harmony’, and ‘completion’. Understanding Hebrew quotes means stepping into a tradition where language is a bridge between the ‘finite and the infinite’.
