Please do NOT visit this site on שַׁבָּת - Shabbat or on the מוֹעֲדִים - Mo’a’dim - Feasts!

Re Tanakh versions:

Throughout this site I may use any of three versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2. “Mechon-Mamre.org” (MEC), and 3. “Sefaria.org” (SEF), three brilliant versions, However, the JPS-1917 is my preferred version!

Colour coded details of our beloved TaNaKh:

1. Torah = History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim = all other Writings.

*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

“Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

“We the Hebrews of Old”

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

We deeply cherish our tradition and heritage. At some point, for the Torah to be fully meaningful and relevant to us as individuals, we need to find a way to make it our own, to develop our own personal relationship with Torah. This is more important now than ever. In a world of so many competing ideas, we strive to find our place in the rich world of Torah study. By doing so, the Torah can become our anchor and compass as we navigate the beautiful and often nuanced journey called life.

I am a Hebrew because, I dearly love יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ - the LORD our Eloheinu, who did choose us so long ago, although, for us as Hebrews it all started with Avraham so long ago.

Please Note: 1. All verses on this study were sourced from the JPS-1917 version. 2. Below, First there is the Ivrit - Hebrew version, followed by the English translation:

Let us now look at Genesis Chapter 18, verse 19, which tells us the following:

“For I have known him, to the end that he may command his children and his household after him, that they may keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice; to the end that יְהוָה - the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which He hath spoken of him”.

What we need to understand that Avraham was selected by God not because he was ‘powerful’, ‘wealthy’, or even a ‘great warrior’, but because of his role as a ‘teacher’ who would pass on ‘ethical monotheism to future generations’.

For us to be a Hebrew is to be a member of the people of the covenant, an heir to one of the world’s most ‘ancient’, ‘enduring’ and ‘awe-inspiring faiths’. It is to inherit a way of life which has earned the admiration of the world for its ‘love of family’, its ‘devotion to education’, its ‘philanthropy’, ‘its social justice’ and its ‘infinitely loyal dedication to a unique destiny’. WE should also know that this way of life, has been passed on from parents to children since the days of ‘Abraham and Sarah’, and it can only be sustained through the Hebrew family; and knowing this, it is vital that we continue to choose to do well, by creating a righteous Hebrew home and, אֱלֹהִים - Elohim willing having good and faithful Hebraic children.

At Mount Horeb (אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s Mountain), the faithful of the Hebrews Israel became partners to the covenant. אֱלֹהִים - Elohim spoke to everyone, the only recorded revelation not to a prophet or a group of initiates but to His people. We were all party to the blessed Law, because, potentially, everyone would know it. All were equal citizens in the nation of faith under the sovereignty of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim.

It is vital that we each day spend some time on reading and learning our beloved Torah, however, before doing so please first say the following Brachot.

“Blessed are You, יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ - LORD our Eloheinu, King of the Universe, who has made us holy through His commandments, and has commanded us to engage in study of the words of Torah”.

Remember continue to cherish our precious tradition and heritage!

This site was originally created, for those who desired to return to our blessed and wonderful faith. Thus be wise and work on your faith and pray at least two or three times a day (if possible) and always seek our beloved אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s guidance, for His love is always with us, especially when we seek Him, blessed be He! However this site has become very much a teaching site with hundreds of studies!

Remember what אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, blessed be He, said the following through a number of our prophets...

“Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָה- the LORD of hosts” Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. (JPS).
