Colour coded details of our beloved TaNaKh:

1. Torah = History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim = all other Writings.

*The Ketuvim - includes, Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command youNEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

 “Verses of Hope”

Tehillim - Psalm 34:16 to 20..

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

Foreword:

Even though I have already written on Tehillim - Psalm Chapter 34 (in fact all the 150 Tehillim earlier as a whole), however, I found that it was worthy to reveal the following five special verses within Tehillim - Psalm 34!

Introduction:

In the verses presented below, David acts as a “Wisdom Teacher”, instructing us to guard our tongues and pursue peace at all times. Thus in verse 16 through to 20, he shifts his gaze from human conduct to a ‘Divine response’. These verses serve as a “אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s (God’s) eye view” of the world, reassuring us that while the righteous are not exempt from suffering, yet they are never abandoned!

“Let us now read this wonderful Scripture from Psalm 34: 16-20:

“The eyes of יְהוָה - the LORD are toward the righteous, and His ears are open unto their cry. The face of יְהוָה - the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. They cried, and יְהוָה - the LORD heard, and delivered them out of all their troubles. יְהוָה - the LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit. Many are the ills of the righteous, but יְהוָה - the LORD delivereth him out of them all”. (JPS-1917 version of the Tanakh).

Let us now look at the commentary re Psalm 34, verses 16 to 20.

Verses 16-18: These highlight that אֱלֹהִים - Elohim is actively attentive to the righteous, while opposing the wicked to eliminate their influence. Turning to אֱלֹהִים - Elohim in distress is shown as the path to salvation.

Verses 19-20: These verses promise Divine closeness to the “broken heart” and “contrite spirit”, assuring that despite many challenges, the righteous are ultimately delivered.

My Closing Message:

These verses offer a message of ‘Blessed Hope’, teaching that אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim is closest when we are most broken during our days. Your struggles do not distance you from our heavenly the Creator, but rather it makes you the focus of Divine attention, ensuring that even when crushed, you are ‘held’ together with ‘love’, and being ‘redeemed’.

Prayer for assistance:

אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - LORD Elohim, blessed are You, for all those who have read this study, may they, and their loved ones, be blessed full of assurance of you being present at all times, and to care and guide them when in need”.

This site was originally created, for those who desired to return to our blessed and wonderful faith. Thus be wise and work on your faith and pray at least two or three times a day (if possible) and always seek our beloved אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s guidance, for His love is always with us, especially when we seek Him, blessed be He! However this site has become very much a teaching site with hundreds of studies!

Remember what אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, blessed be He, said the following via several of our prophets...

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָה- the LORD of hosts”. Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. (JPS).
