Re Tanakh versions:

Throughout this site I may use any of three versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2“Mechon-Mamre.org (MEC), and 3. “Sefaria.org (SEF), three brilliant versions, However, the JPS-1917 is my preferred version!

Colour coded details of our beloved TaNaKh:

1. Torah = History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim all other Writings.

*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

“The Two Exoduses”

(Leaving Egypt and Casting Out Egypt)

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

Let us commence with the relevant scripture for this study. Micah Chapter 6, verse 4. It will provide it first in Ivrit – Hebrew, followed by the Translation.

כִּי הֶעֱלִתִיךָ מֵאֶרֶץ מִצְרַיִם, וּמִבֵּית עֲבָדִים פְּדִיתִיךָ

“For I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and redeemed you from the house of bondage”. Micah 6:4a. (JPS-1917 version of the Tanakh).

The Illusion of the Outer Separation:

Men love to talk about being ‘chosen’. People imagine that an outward separation is the end of the matter. It was so easy, relatively speaking, for Elohim to take Israel out of Egypt through His ‘great miracle’s, ‘His mighty hand’, and ‘the splitting of the sea’. Signs and wonders can shatter physical chains overnight.

It is just as easy today for יְהוָה - the LORD to separate His people out of this world, to draw a hard line of demarcation, and to call a remnant His chosen people. Anyone can put distance between themselves and the physical institutions of the nations.

But here is where the text cuts straight to the bone: ‘It was almost impossible for Elohim to take Egypt out of Israel’.

The Crux: Removing Egypt from Within:

You can pull a man out of the ‘house of bondage’, but if you do not ‘pull the house of bondage out of the man’, he will spend the entire wilderness mourning for the pots of onions and the garlic of Pharaoh. He will carry the psychological architecture of Egypt its reliance on visible control, its panic when the bread runs out, and its deeply ingrained worldly conditioning right into the holy places.

And this is the exact battle the remnant faces today. It is entirely effortless for the Creator to call us out of the world. But it is a gruelling, fiery, agonizingly difficult process for Elohim to take the world out of His people.

The Crucible of the Word:

Centuries of Hellenistic thought, secular compromise, and the silent rhythms of worldly survival cling to human nature like fine dust. Men want the external title of ‘chosen’ without enduring the inner fire that burns away the Egyptian mindset.

Until that internal Egypt is uprooted by the unyielding standard of the Word, the separation is only ‘skin-deep’. The true exodus does not happen when you cross a physical sea; it happens when the last remnants of worldly dependency die in the wilderness of the heart, leaving only a yielded soul utterly dependent on the breath of the Creator.
