Please do NOT visit this site on שַׁבָּת - Shabbat or on the מוֹעֲדִים Mo’a’dim - Feasts!

Re Tanakh versions:

Throughout this site I may use any of three versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2“Mechon-Mamre.org (MEC), and 3. “Sefaria.org (SEF), three brilliant versions, However, the JPS-1917 is my preferred version!

Colour coded details of our beloved TaNaKh:

1. Torah = History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim all other Writings.

*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

“The True Sanctuary”

(The Throne, the Footstool, and the Yielded Will)

A study by ‘Shmuel Ben Shlomo’.

(My secretary).

This study is based on יְשַׁעְיָהו - Yeshayahu - Isaiah Chapter 66, verse 1. Thus let us first read it in Ivrit - Hebrew and then by its translation. All verse are based on the JPS-1917 version of our Tanakh).

1. “Thus saith יְהוָה - the LORD: The heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool; where is the house that ye may build unto Me? And where is the place that may be My resting-place?

The Illusion of Human Architecture:

When we look into the plain meaning of the ‘Peshat’, of the ‘Holy Tongue’, our beloved Creator strips away every external crutch that religious systems try to lean upon. Men love to build houses. They love ‘stone’, ‘mortar’, ‘institutional fences’, and ‘programs’ designed to manage the sacred. But the text above pierces right through ‘human pride’ with a shattering question: “Where is the house that you will build Me?

The heaven is His throne; the earth is merely His footstool (הֲדוֹם - Hadom). You cannot capture the Infinite inside a box built by human hands. Whenever men try to institutionalize holiness or force the Divine into a religious enclosure, they are simply building another Tower of Babel. They are trying to reach up to אֱלֹהִים - Elohim on their own terms instead of bowing to His design.

The Sacred Sanctuary of Free Will:

Why does the text leave us standing before this empty question? Because of the most profound boundary established in creation: free will!

יְהוָה - the LORD is sovereign over the cosmos, yet there is one domain He holds back by His own decree, the inner chamber of the human will. He does not ‘override it’. He does not ‘coerce it’. If holiness is to have any real substance, it cannot be forced by ‘mechanics’ or ‘automation’. It has to well up from ‘within’, ‘chosen deliberately by man’ in the quiet place of the heart.

This is why obedience to His Mitzvot is the highest gift a human being can offer. It is the only thing the Creator cannot simply command into existence without your consent.

Finding His Rest:

The verse ends with the ultimate Divine longing: “And where is the place of My rest?

אֱלֹהִים - Elohim does not rest in buildings. He rests where human rebellion comes to an end. When a person lays down ‘their self-will’, breaks the ‘stubborn mountain of pride’, and yields completely to the breath of the Creator, they become the true sanctuary.

That is where the living Word dwells. That is where holiness becomes our ultimate ‘protection’, outliving every fence the nations try to build. Shalom.

However this site has become very much a teaching site with hundreds of studies!

Remember what אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, blessed be He, said the following through a number of our prophets...

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָה- the LORD of hosts” Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. (JPS).
