Remember the following two
truth’s from our beloved Scriptures!
“Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה
אֱלֹהֵיכֶם -
the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).
With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.
Let us look at the question regarding Eliyahu
- Elijah, for are we are told that he was caught up in a chariot to heaven!
Personally, no matter what we are told, or
what it seems to say, but I stand strong on the sheer fact that not a
single person has ever ascended, or gone to heaven! I have had people ask
me, but Rabbi what about Eliyahu, was he taken up into heaven, was he not?
There is no doubt that as can be read in 2 Kings 2:11 that Eliyahu was indeed taken up in a chariot in a miraculous manner. But let us look at the actual verse stating his departure.
“And it came to pass ... that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, which parted them both asunder; and Eliyahu - Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven”. 2 Kings 2:11. (JPS-1917).
The simple fact is that Elijah was taken into
the הַשָּׁמָיִם =
“Ha’she’ma’yim”
being ‘the sky’, thus he was taken into the sky, or even into the
clouds.
Let
me explain: הַשָּׁמָיִם (Hashamayim)
in Hebrew means “the sky”. It is a plural, masculine
noun combining the definite article הַ (‘the’) with שָׁמַיִם (‘sky’),
as it refers to the physical sky!
The fact is, the reason Elijah was taken away, is that he could be
safely transported to another location, and allowed Elisha to continue his
prophetic work. Now, you might say, how can you possibly say that, for the Word
say’s He was ‘taken to Heaven’, that is because rabbis and other teachers do
not understand Hebrew sufficiently! They are all wrong, and I can prove that
100%!
As I have already indicated, the Hebrew word הַשָּׁמָיִם - “Ha’sha’mayim” or “Mayim” in Hebrew means “the sky”, or “Air”, even “Clouds”, and it can also be “alluding to the visible arch in which the clouds move”. Thus we are clearly speaking of a space that is within our own atmosphere and not something out there in the far reaches of space, a place we may think of as being heaven, where our Heavenly Father is! But then again אֱלֹהִים is always with us, for if you are a true Hebrew believer in our beloved אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, יְהוָה בָּרוּךְ = Bless the LORD, be glad you are here where אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, placed you and me!
I know that Christians believe when they die
they go up to heaven, and be with their god. Only, what iis
so very wrong with that is that their very own Bible clearly states that the
dead will be raised from their graves at a certain time. Therefore Christians,
I am sorry, you can not have it both ways!
Let me share with you something that is generally not known, it is a truth which comes from directly from the Word of אֱלֹהִים - יְהוָה, in our blessed Tanakh, tells us something very different, and that will shed a completly new light on the whole event of Elijah having been taken up, etc!
We need to understand that Eliyahu - Elijah
was taken away during the reign of King Jehoshaphat who ruled
Many years after Eliyahu had been taken up,
the faithful king Jehoshaphat sadly passed away, yet Eliyahu the prophet of יְהוָה
אֱלֹהִים
- the LORD Elohim, was now actually living somewhere
else in security, and amazingly he wrote and sent a letter to the new king Jehoram, who reigned in Jerusalem. Below are the details
regarding Eliyahu’s letter ...
“Jehoram received a
letter from Eliyahu the prophet, which said: “This is what אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim of your
father David, says: ‘You have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat
or of Asa king of Judah’” 2 Chronicles
21:12. (JPS).
Now does this not come as a great shock to you? For rabbis, and Christian ministers have all been teaching you that Eliyahu was taken up into ‘heaven’ and was with our Heavenly Father. But the truth is, as is actually clearly shown to us in the Tanakh that אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, used Eliyahu some time later, for Eliyahu to wrote a letter of warning to the new king telling the king what would happen to him because of his evil ways.
I will now provide Eliyahu’s
actual letter in full from the book of 2 Chronicles and then the result of this
evil king’s life and his horrid death.
“Jehoram received a
letter from Eliyahu - Elijah the prophet, which (in 2 Chronicles 21:12-20. JPS)
said: “This is what אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה
- the LORD Elohim of your father David, says: ‘You have
not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa
king of
I am sure, it has now become totally clear that Eliyahu was still alive and well years after he was taken up in that whirlwind, which the Almighty indeed did by His blessed and mighty hand, for אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD removed him and allowed Elisha a “double portion” in order for him to continue the work that Eliyahu had commenced, but for reasons of His own יְהוָה - the LORD took Eliyahu His faithful servant to live on, being very much here on this earth, to live on and at a safe place for him! Only אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim knows why He had to remove him! Of course in due time, Eliyahu would have died just like any other of the faithful prophets of אֱלֹהִים!
