Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to

having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the
following truth from our beloved Torah!
“Ye shall NOT ADD TO
THE WORD which I command you,
NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT,
that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה
אֱלֹהֵיכֶם - the LORD your Eloleichem,
which I command you”. Davarim -
Deuteronomy 4:2.
However, sadly both the later priests as well as our rabbis of long ago and of today have, and are shamefully disobeying this command of אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - ‘Baruch Shem Kadosho’ – ‘Blessed be His Holy Name!’

Introduction:
Both Psalms 112 and 113 form a paired hymn: 112
describes the character and destiny of the righteous who fear יְהוָה - the LORD
their stability, generosity, and honour, while 113
shifts to praise of who acts on behalf
of the humble and needy. Together they move from human response (fear,
obedience, charity) to divine action (exaltation of the lowly).
Let us first read Tehillim
Psalm Chapter 112: (JPS-1917 version of the Tanakh.
1. “Halleluyah”.
‘Happy is the man that feareth יְהוָה - the LORD, that delighteth
greatly in His commandments.
2. His seed shall be mighty upon earth; the
generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3. Wealth and riches are in his house; and his merit endureth for ever.
4. Unto the upright He shineth
as a light in the darkness, gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
5. Well is it with the man that dealeth
graciously and lendeth, that ordereth
his affairs rightfully.
6. For he shall never be moved; the righteous shall
be had in everlasting remembrance.
7. He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart
is steadfast, trusting in יְהוָה - the LORD.
8. His heart is established, he shall not be afraid,
until he gaze upon his adversaries.
9. He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the
needy; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn
shall be exalted in honour.
10. The wicked shall see it, and be vexed; he shall
gnash with his teeth, and melt away; the desire
of the wicked shall perish”.

Tehillim - Psalm 112 ‘verse by verse’ with a summary and explanation:
1. “Happy is the man that feareth יְהוָה - the LORD”.
Explanation: Fear of אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim is the moral root; happiness (blessing) follows reverent obedience.
2. “His seed shall be mighty upon earth”.
Explanation: Righteous life brings enduring legacy and communal blessing.
3. “Wealth and riches are in his house”.
Explanation: Material blessing appears, but as a sign of covenantal favour, not mere gain.
4. “Unto the upright He shineth as a light in the darkness”.
Explanation: אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s presence guides and distinguishes the upright amid trouble.
5. “Well is it with the man that dealeth graciously and lendeth”.
Explanation: Generosity and just conduct are central marks of the righteous.
6. “For he shall never be moved”.
Explanation: Stability and remembrance: the righteous endure in community memory.
7. “He shall not be afraid of evil tidings”.
Explanation: Trust in יְהוָה - the LORD removes fear of hostile reports.
8. “His heart is established, he shall not be afraid”.
Explanation: Inner firmness enables facing adversaries with calm.
9. He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the needy”.
Explanation: Charity is active and public; righteousness is practical.
10. “The wicked shall see it, and be grieved”.
The fate of the wicked contrasts with the exaltation of the righteous; God’s justice is evident.
Key point: Fear of יְהוָה - the LORD produces ethical behavior (‘generosity’, ‘justice’) and communal stability; blessing is both spiritual and social.

Let us now first read Tehillim
Psalm Chapter 113: (JPS-1917 version of the Tanakh.
1. “Halleluyah. Praise,
O ye servants of יְהוָה - the LORD, praise the name of יְהוָה - the LORD.
2. Blessed be the name of יְהוָה - the LORD
from this time forth and forever.
3. From the rising of the sun unto the going down
thereof יְהוָה - the LORD’s Name is
to be praised!
4. יְהוָה - the LORD is high above all nations,
His glory is above the heavens.
5. Who is like unto יְהוָה
אֱלֹהֵינוּ - the LORD our Elohim,
that is enthroned on high,
6. That looketh down low
upon heaven and upon the earth?
7. Who raiseth up the
poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the needy out of
the dunghill;
8. That He may set him with princes, even with the
princes of His people.
9. Who maketh the barren
woman to dwell in her house as a joyful mother of children. Halleluyah.

Tehillim - Psalm 113 ‘verse by verse’ with a summary and explanation:
Verses 1-2. “Halleluyah; Praise, O servants of יְהוָה - the LORD”.
Explanation: A call to praise יְהוָה - the LORD from sunrise to sunset; communal liturgical framing.
Verses 3-4. “From the rising of the sun... who is like unto יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ - the LORD our Elohim?”.
Explanation: אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s transcendence and sovereign Name above all.
Verses 5-6. “He humbleth Himself to behold the heavens and the earth”.
Explanation: The paradox: transcendent אֱלֹהִים - Elohim is attentive to creation.
Verses 7–8. “He raiseth up the poor out of the dust”.
Explanation: Divine action lifts the lowly to honour; social reversal is a Divine attribute.
Verse 9. “He maketh the barren woman to keep house, to be a joyful mother of children”.
Explanation: אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s blessing restores family and social wholeness.
Key point: Psalm 113 celebrates יְהוָה - the LORD sovereign humility and active care for the marginalized.
My Closing Message:
Psalms 112 and 113 together teach the following: reverent fear of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim yields ethical life and lasting blessing, and יְהוָה - the LORD in turn exalts the humble and restores the needy. The two Psalms form a compact Hebraic theology of personal ‘righteousness’ and Divine compassion, urging both for a ‘right conduct’ and ‘confident praise’.
