Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

Friday: Psalm 93.

1. יְהוָה - the LORD reigneth; He is clothed in majesty; יְהוָה - the LORD is clothed, He hath girded Himself with strength; yea, the world is established, that it cannot be moved. 2. Thy throne is established of old; Thou art from everlasting. 3. The floods have lifted up, O יְהוָה - LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. 4. Above the voices of many waters, the mighty breakers of the sea, יְהוָה - the LORD on high is mighty. 5. Thy testimonies are very sure; holiness becometh Thy house, O יְהוָה - LORD, for evermore”.

The Song of the Day for Friday celebrates majesty, stability, and absolute sovereignty. It has been explained that it was chosen for Friday because אֱלֹהִים - Elohim finished His work of Creation on this day and began His Majestic reign over the universe.

Friday: Psalm 93 (The Song of the Day for Friday).

Verse 1: (Text - “יְהוָה - the LORD reigneth; He is clothed with majesty...”):
Ibn Ezra notes that unlike human kings who put on royal robes made by others,
אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s majesty is His intrinsic essence. Because He is the supreme ruler, ‘the world also is established, that it cannot be moved’. Despite how ‘chaotic’ and ‘unstable our ‘physical world’ or our ‘health’ might feel, the underlying spiritual reality is perfectly secure in His hands.

Verse 2: (Text - “Thy throne is established of old; Thou art from everlasting”.):
The Midrash teaches that
אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s throne of mercy was created before the physical universe existed. His capacity for compassion and eternal connection to creation predates time itself.

Verses 3-4: (Text - “The floods have lifted up, O יְהוָה - LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice...”):
The ‘floods’ and ‘mighty waves of the sea’ represent the roaring, chaotic nations of the world, or the overwhelming crises that threaten to drown a person. The Psalmist guarantees that ‘Above the voices of many waters...
יְהוָה - the LORD on high is mighty’. אֱלֹהִים - Elohim sits serenely above the roaring storms of life. His power infinitely eclipses any earthly threat, illness, or chaos.

Verse 5: (Text - “Thy testimonies are very sure; holiness becometh Thy house, O יְהוָה - LORD, for evermore”.):
The Psalm concludes by anchoring us back to reality. The physical Temple may face destruction or exile, but the holiness of
אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s presence and the truth of His Torah (‘testimonies’) remain entirely untouched and eternal.

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָה- the LORD of hosts” Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. (JPS).
