Please do NOT visit this site on שַׁבָּת - Shabbat or on the מוֹעֲדִים Mo’a’dim - Feasts!

Re Tanakh versions:

Throughout this site I may use any of three versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2“Mechon-Mamre.org (MEC), and 3. “Sefaria.org (SEF), three brilliant versions, However, the JPS-1917 is my preferred version!

Colour coded details of our beloved TaNaKh:

1. Torah = History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim all other Writings.

*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

“No Grey Areas in the Tanach

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

Please Note: All verses are from the JPS-1917 version of the Tanakh!

This study is all about there being ‘No Grey Areas in the Torah and Tanach.

The foundational reality of the Creator’s architecture is that His standard is absolute, ‘precise’, and ‘devoid of gradients’. Across the Torah and the Tanach, אֱלֹהִים - Elohim draws razor-sharp lines between the ‘holy’ and the ‘profane’, the ‘clean’ and the ‘unclean’, the ‘true’ and the ‘false’.

The Ultimate Scriptural Proof: Leviticus 10:3:

While many passages highlight this strict division, the most piercing demonstration occurs immediately following the tragedy of ‘Nadab’ and ‘Abihu’. יְהוָה - the LORD declares the foundational principle governing His entire sanctuary:

“Through them that are nigh unto Me I will be Sanctified, and before all the people I will be glorified”. Leviticus 10:3.

Why this is the pinnacle text: The Hebrew root for “Sanctified” is קָּדֵשׁ - Kadesh, meaning to be set apart, strictly isolated, and kept distinct from anything common.  אֱלֹהִים- Elohim does not negotiate His proximity. There is no middle ground between treating something as ‘sacred’ and treating it as ‘ordinary’. The moment man attempts to introduce his own ‘innovation’, ‘emotion’, or ‘secular convenience’ into the Divine standard, he crosses an invisible, absolute boundary, proving that in the economy of the Creator, grey areas do not exist; there is only ‘obedience’ or ‘separation from life’.

Where Man Has Compromised His Holy Word (The Grey Areas):

Humanity is perpetually at war with absolute boundaries. Seeking ‘comfort’, ‘social acceptance’, and ‘traditional alignment’, man has continuously carved out ‘grey areas’ to dilute the unyielding weight of the Torah and Tanach. Here are the core areas of compromise:

1. The Replacement of יְהוָה - the LORD Commands with Rabbinical Traditions:

The Divine Standard: The Torah commands absolute adherence to His instructions, warning explicitly neither ‘to add’ to ‘nor diminish’ from the Word given by יְהוָה - the LORD.

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם - the LORD your Eloheichem which I command you”. Deuteronomy 4:2.

The Human Compromise: Religious systems built upon the ‘Zohar’, the occult ‘Kabbalah’, the ‘Talmud’ and the ‘Shulchan Aruchintroduce a massive, complex network of man-made ‘mystical speculations’, and ‘rabbinical enactments’. By elevating human commentary and mystical traditions above or equal to the direct text, man creates a thick ‘grey areas’ that obscures the ‘pure’, ‘literal Peshat’ of the Creator's instructions.

2. The Concealment of His Holy Name:

The Divine Standard: יְהוָה - the LORD proclaims His four-letter personal Name as His memorial forever and the eternal identifier by which He is to be called and known.

Let us read Exodus 3:15 in Ivrit and Hebrew, followed by its translation: Believe me, it is time that we obey our beloved יְהוָה - the LORD.

“And אֱלֹהִים - Elohim said moreover unto Moses: ‘Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel: יְהוָה - the LORD, the אֱלֹהִים - Elohim of your fathers, the אֱלֹהִים - Elohim of Abraham, the אֱלֹהִים - Elohim of Isaac, and the אֱלֹהִים - Elohim of Jacob, hath sent me unto you; this is My Name forever, and this is My Memorial unto all generations’”.

The Human Compromise: Out of tradition and superstition, religious consensus hides His Holy Name, substituting it with titles like ‘Adonai’ (‘Lord’) or ‘HaShem’ (‘The Name’), which is an insult unto our beloved אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim. This creates an intentional ‘distance’ and a ‘linguistic grey area’, stripping away the precise, uncompromised ‘identity’ of the Creator to conform to man-made (rabbinic) erroneous ideology!

Psalm 105:1:O give thanks unto יְהוָה - the LORD, call upon His Name; make known His doings among the peoples”.

1 Chronicles 16:8: “O give thanks unto יְהוָה - the LORD, call upon His Name; make known His doings among the peoples”.

Isaiah 12:4:Give thanks unto יְהוָה - the LORD, proclaim His Name, declare His doings among the peoples, make mention that His Name is exalted!”

Regardless what rabbis of the past have done, and they have been cursed because they illegally removed אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s most blessed Name. Thus we should return to using it, for as the verses above have clearly shown, and it proves that it is correct, to use the blessed Name, but of course only when in prayer and during our Torah/Tanakh studies, etc. It is not to be used as a general conversation piece!
