Re Tanakh versions:
Throughout
this site I may use any of three versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2. “Mechon-Mamre.org” (MEC), and 3. “Sefaria.org” (SEF), three brilliant versions, However, the
JPS-1917 is my preferred version!
Colour coded
details of our beloved TaNaKh:
1. Torah = History
& Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim = all other Writings.
*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical
books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or
Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of
Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history
of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.
Please Note: Some alterations
or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre
the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!
“Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which
I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM
IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem,
which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.
Let me commence this
study with an earlier Scriptural time, and therefore we will now read Deuteronomy
chapter 5:4-9. This time only in English, as other verses below will be
both in Hebrew and English.
“יְהוָה - the LORD spoke with you face to face in the mount out of the midst of the fire. I stood between יְהוָה - the LORD and you at that time, to declare unto you the word of יְהוָה - the LORD; for ye were afraid because of the fire, and went not up into the mount saying: ‘I am יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ - the LORD thy Eloheicha, who brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me. Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, even any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ - the LORD thy Eloheicha am a jealous אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the third and upon the fourth generation of them that hate Me, and showing mercy unto the thousandth generation of them that love Me and keep My commandments’”.
Expressing a
profound affection and deep devotion for אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s instruction is a major theme found
throughout the poetic and wisdom books of our beloved Tanakh!

Thus
let us now read some verses that so clearly reveal the ‘beauty’ and ‘love’ we
have for our beloved מִצְוֹת - ‘Mitzvot” (Precepts, Laws - Commandments).
The
Psalmist explicitly declares the following verses:
Psalm 1:2:
בְּתוֹרַת
יְהוָה,
חֶפְצוֹ;
וּבְתוֹרָתוֹ
יֶהְגֶּה,
יוֹמָם
וָלָיְלָה
“His delight is in the law
of יְהוָה - the LORD; and in His law doth he meditate
day and night”.
Psalm
119:97:
מָה-אָהַבְתִּי
תוֹרָתֶךָ:
כָּל-הַיּוֹם,
הִיא
שִׂיחָתִי
“O how I love Your Law (Torah)! It is my meditation all the day”.
Psalm
119:159:
רְאֵה,
כִּי-פִקּוּדֶיךָ
אָהָבְתִּי;
יְהוָה,
כְּחַסְדְּךָ
חַיֵּנִי
“O see
how I love Thy precepts; quicken me, O יְהוָה - LORD, according to Thy loving-kindness”.
Psalm
119:165: It notes...
שָׁלוֹם
רָב,
לְאֹהֲבֵי
תוֹרָתֶךָ;
וְאֵין-לָמוֹ מִכְשׁוֹל
“Great peace
have they that love Thy law; and there is no stumbling for them”.
Isaiah

themselves unto יְהוָה - the LORD, to minister unto Him, and
to love the Name of יְהוָה - the LORD, to be His servants, every
one that keepeth the Sabbath from profaning it, and holdeth fast by My
Covenant”.

Let
me close with Ezekiel 36:26-27:
“A new heart also will I give
you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony
heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. And
I will put My spirit within you, and cause you to
walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep Mine ordinances, and do them”.
