Remember the following two
truth’s from our beloved Scriptures!
“Ye
shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה
אֱלֹהֵיכֶם - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2.

Discover the knowledge of Elohim,
For only He can give us wisdom..
A Study based on Yeshayahu - Isaiah 43, Verse 10.
With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.
“‘Ye are My
witnesses, saith יְהוָה - the LORD , and My servant whom I have chosen;
that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He; before Me there
was no אֱלֹהִים
- Elohim formed, neither shall any be after Me’” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 43: (JPS-1917 version of the Tanakh).
This is a big study and it may take some time to get through, but it contains a great deal of worthwhile learning, it is all about getting closer to our loving Heavenly Father and how we live our lives!
When we read this passage by Yeshayahu - Isaiah which is an affirmation spoken by אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה – the LORD Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, describing the foundation of a truth, being a platform behind all teachings of His commandments, His Torah, and all that was written by His chosen prophet, which has become the foundation of His Word on man’s heart. And this obviously does not include the much later added manmade laws which had nothing to do with the Almighty, but rabbis who added thousands of overbearing and even ridiculous laws. אֱלֹהִים - Elohim gave us 613 Mitzvoth, and the rabbis managed to almost hide them with their own inventions, and thus so many of B’Nei Yisrael got lost, for no one in the real world can uphold these man made laws, and many sadly walked away from the faith.
Please believe what is in the Torah and in all
of the Tanakh, and beware of those who have become more like cults, like those
who worship their long dead rabbi believing that he will be resurrected and
that - and I am quoting them; “This is the God Mashiach”. If
you attend an Orthodox Shul, it is most likely that your rabbi is from their
cult, as they have been working very hard and been successful by invading shul’s all over the world for many years! Of course
the name of their Messiah god is the late ‘rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson’,
who is also their god.
“‘Ye are My witnesses, saith יְהוָה - the LORD, and My servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He; before Me there was no אֱלֹהִים - Elohim formed, neither shall any be after Me’” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 43:10 (JPS).
Comprehending this verse will, in turn open the door for us. As you know a door allows access, not only to the outside of a building but also to the inside of one. This understanding will provide access to a deep personal relationship revealing אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s character to you, and at the same time exposing your true character to Him and your true character to yourself. All that is required is acting upon these 3 words to ‘know’, to ‘believe’ and to ‘understand’, which is given in this specific order for a very powerful reason, which we shall investigate further as we will go on.
Your will is the potential of being, and it is the key to unlock this essence which is buried deep within overlapping layers of the mind and heart, hidden because of self and with it the overwhelming plethora of the physical and spiritual world, which offers a different instruction than the one which is spoken of here. This is the essence of self that needs to be overcome.
We have all heard of these three words, ‘Elohim’, ‘Faith’, and ‘Torah’. Even to a Hebrew who has become an atheist will be consciously aware of these terms and what they signify.
But what of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim?
Tragically His actual Name has been hijacked and changed by priests and rabbis, and I believe that although they were officially priests and rabbis, they were not true men of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim and their wretched religious dogma. The English word for אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (god) is an ancient Gothic pagan name of a deity. Just like Allah is the pagan name of the Moon deity, and so begins the many names of false deity’s used by the world.
You ask yourself, what did Elohim think about them removing His Sacred Name? Let us briefly look at Malachi chapter 2:1-3 & 8. (JPS).
1. “And now, this commandment is
for you, O ye priests.
2. If ye will not hearken, and if ye
will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto My Name,
saith צְבָאוֹת-יְהוָה - the LORD
of hosts, then will I send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings;
yea, I curse them, because ye do not lay it to heart.
3. Behold, I will rebuke the seed for
your hurt, and will spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your
sacrifices; and ye shall be taken away unto it.”
8. “But ye are turned aside out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble in the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith צְבָאוֹת-יְהוָה - the LORD of hosts”.
Then we have the new age thinkers who say that they are god’s, and read the words of scripture out of context because they twist its teachings to suit their personal beliefs.
However the true Creator of everything is recorded and His Name is יְהוָה - YaHVaH - the LORD blessed be His Sanctified Name, which is written in the Hebrew Scriptures. However, His Title, or Attribute is אֱלֹהִים - Elohim and not god, for that is actually a name of a pagan deity as is clearly recorded in the Torah and in Yahushua - Joshua. These names should never be translated into foreign pagan deity names.
אֱלֹהִים - Elohim has explained why the 3 words are so essential to recognise Him by placing them in a particular order that exposes What He is, Who He is and Who He is to you and me!
1st Word:
Now let’s us examine the first word … In Hebrew ‘Know’ is ‘Yadah’ the root word. This word conveys the first pillar of acknowledgement that underlies אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s character. אֱלֹהִים - Elohim knows us therefore we should know Him.
The question we may ask ourselves is, how do we know and acknowledge Him? Well every word in the Hebrew especially concerning Elohim and His Word contains many rich layers of teaching, just as we have many layers to our personality. Simply put, He wants you to know Him as the Creator of everything on a very personal intimate level. So when we examine this word, in the Hebrew, the deeper layers of the meanings within ‘Yada’ are pealed away so let us examine these layers of meaning. To know, confess, praise, to give thanks, to express recognition and declaration of the fact of what Elohim means to you.
2nd Word:
The second powerful Hebrew root word is ‘Aman’ which means believe, and again another multifaceted word that further means- confirm, supporting, uphold, to be established and to be faithful.
If we believe and confess ourselves to אֱלֹהִים - Elohim by repenting from sin and error we are then supported and established in Him and we continue to be faithful in following Him. This completes Who He is to you.
3rd Word:
The final third powerful Hebrew root word is ‘Bin’, which means understand, consider, perceive, prudent, discern, separation, regard. Bin is different to the first word of our study Yada Know. The background idea of Bin is to discern between good and evil, between truth and falseness.
It refers to knowledge, which is far superior than just gathering information. It is necessary to know how to use His knowledge correctly that enables the power of judgement and insight. The verses below provides us with so much guidance!
“Wisdom is before him that hath understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth” Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs of Solomon 17:24 (JPS).
“A servant will not be corrected by words; for though he understands, there will be no response” Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs of Solomon 29:19 (JPS).
“Before your pots can feel (Understand) the thorns, He will sweep it away with a whirlwind, the raw and the burning alike” Tehillim - Psalm 58:9 (JPS).
“Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my taste discern crafty devices?” Iyov - Job 6:30 (JPS).
“Give me understanding, that I keep Thy law and observe it with my whole heart” Tehillim - Psalm 119:34 (JPS).
“Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the prudence of their prudent men shall be hid” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 29:14 (JPS).
The seat of insight is the heart; and it is the heart, which discerns (or fails to discern) the works of the יְהוָה - the LORD, blessed be His Name.
“Because they give no
regards (Understanding) to the works of יְהוָה - the LORD, nor to the operation of His
hands” Tehillim -
Psalm 28:5 (JPS).
“Then you will
understand the fear of the יְהוָה - the LORD. And find the knowledge of אֱלֹהִים
- Elohim”. Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs of Solomon 2:5 (JPS).
“Then shalt thou
understand righteousness and justice, and equity, yea, every good path”. Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs of
Solomon 2:9 (JPS).
“The fear of יְהוָה - the LORD is the
beginning of wisdom; a good understanding have all they that do thereafter; His praise endureth for
ever”. Tehillim - Psalm 111:10 (JPS).
While understanding is a gift of אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, it certainly does not come automatically. The possession of it requires a persistent diligence. It is more than IQ. One is at fault if he doesn’t have it and in fact, not to pursue it will incur אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s punishment and is summed up in its entirety in this proverb;
Mishle Shlomo - Proverbs
of Solomon 2:1-22: (JPS).
1. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and lay up
my commandments with thee;
2. So that thou make thine ear attend unto wisdom, and
thy heart incline to discernment;
3. Yea, if thou call for understanding, and lift up thy
voice for discernment;
4. If thou seek her as silver, and search for her as for
hid treasures;
5. Then shalt thou understand the fear of יְהוָה
- the LORD,
and find the knowledge of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim.
6. For יְהוָה giveth
wisdom, out of His mouth cometh knowledge and discernment;
7. He layeth up sound wisdom
for the upright, He is a shield to them that walk in integrity;
8. That He may guard the paths of justice, and preserve
the way of His godly ones.
9. Then shalt thou understand righteousness and justice,
and equity, yea, every good path.
10. For wisdom shall enter into thy heart, and knowledge
shall be pleasant unto thy soul;
11. Discretion shall watch over thee, discernment shall
guard thee;
12. To deliver thee from the way of evil, from the men
that speak froward things;
13. Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the
ways of darkness;
14. Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of evil;
15. Who are crooked in their ways, and perverse in their
paths;
16. To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from
the alien woman that maketh smooth her words;
17. That forsaketh the lord of
her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her אֱלֹהִים
- Elohim.
18. For her house sinketh down
unto death, and her paths unto the shades;
19. None that go unto her return, neither do they attain
unto the paths of life;
20. That thou mayest walk in
the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21. For the upright shall dwell
in the land, and the whole-hearted shall remain in it.
22. But the wicked shall be cut off from the land, and
the faithless shall be plucked up out of it”
It is also used as a preposition, “in
the interval,’ "between indicating an interval with respect to the
object, e.g. between you and between אֱלֹהֵיכֶם- יְהוָה- the LORD your Elohim.
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 59:2 (JPS).
This space is so important for it means to stop to pause in your thinking and to soak up His understanding and not yours, so I see it as a release valve of the mind to expel that which is our understanding and to replace more of His understanding. This completes the study, thus what and who is He to you.
So we have looked at the meanings of these three words and when we apply their complete and full meanings to who it is referring to we will be able to know, believe and understand that אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, Blessed be His Sanctified Name, is the Great “I am He and Before Me there was no Elohim formed, And there will be none after Me”.
