Re Tanakh versions:

Throughout this site I may use any of two versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2. “Mechon-Mamre.org” (MEC). These are two brilliant versions, using the JPS-1917 version very much preferred by myself!

Colour coded details of our beloved TaNaKh:

1. Torah = History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim = all other Writings.

*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

“Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

“Know and Believe Me”

(Yeshayahu - Isaiah 43:10)

Introduction:

In the book of Yeshayahu - Isaiah we find a very powerful message for all of us, and something very special is found in chapter 43 verses 10 and 11. The truth is that this most blessed book that is filled with so many wonderful messages.

Let us read Yeshayahu - Isaiah chapter 43, verses 10 & 11.

“Ye are My witnesses, saith יְהוָה - the LORD, and My servant whom I have chosen; that ye may know and believe Me, and understand that I am He; before Me there was no אֱלֹהִים - Elohim formed, neither shall any be after Me. I, even I, am יְהוָה - the LORD; and beside Me there is no saviour”.

The truth is, that this most book is filled with wonderful messages!

The Book of Isaiah should be read from chapter 1 right through to the very end, being chapter 66, as it contains countless treasures. However, in this study we will look at just another of the many treasures to be found in this book.

Thankfully we know that the Tanach, is full of treasure, for אֱלֹהִים - Elohim gave us the people of Israel a strict commandment ‘not to add to the word … and not to take from it”!

Sadly, in times long gone there have been changes made, such as in two Tehillim, Psalms they actually removed the Blessed Name of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, being of course יְהוָה in the Hebrew verses, and they replaced it with אֱלֹהִים, whilst in the English translation “the LORD”, became “God”. This is in Psalms 53 and 56. Those who did this evil would be automatically severely punished as they were cursed by אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, blessed be He! Just read Mala’chi Chapter 2, verses 1 to 3, and 8.

Let us now read Davarim - Deuteronomy 28:14.

“And (thou) shalt not turn aside from any of the words which I command you this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 28:14.

The Dead Sea Scrolls:

It was in 1938 when a few Bedouin goat herders who were herding around ‘Wadi Qumran’ and whilst playing around, they were throwing stones down the gulley’s around them and as we are told, a stone fell into a cave and they heard it hit something that sounded very much like it broke a clay item of some sort. In due course they managed to get into the cave where they found jars that were up to one metre high and as one of the boys looked inside, he discovered that there were scrolls in them.

I am sure we will all know the story of the “Dead Sea Scrolls” which contained many fragments of the Tanach, but the miracle was that in one perfectly sealed jar, there was a almost undamaged scroll of the Book of Yeshayahu - Isaiah. I was fortunate to view it, and it was blessing!

Amazingly this ancient scroll of Isaiah was a good 1,000 years older than the earliest manuscript that existed at the time. For the oldest was from 900 AD and this scroll hailed from 100 BC, and thus they felt that there could well be many changes, but amazingly this ancient scroll proved to be most accurate with the official Hebrew versions as held by the Hebraic communities around the world. It clearly proved how the Children of Israel have kept this Sacred book of Elohim as pure as possible!

For me, this says a great deal about the importance of the Book of Yeshayahu - Isaiah and why יְהוָה - Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, would have kept this very Scroll for mankind, for these Scrolls having been retained in its entirety, and it now proves the accuracy of our beloved Tanach as well as the importance of this remarkable Book, for I believe that this Book is a powerful Book in our Scriptures!

The Book of Yeshayahu - Isaiah:

First of all the Prophet Isaiah was given a remarkable name, which in Hebrew is “Yeshayahu,” which translates as; “Salvation (is) of YHVH.” His name obviously tells us that he came from a family who faithfully upheld the Commandments of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, and not by just keeping the Sabbath, but also the Seven Feasts of YHVH, and by going to Jerusalem at the three appointed times, as well as upholding the other relevant laws, etc. Thus, Isaiah had been fully educated by his mother as a child in his faith, for in the Hebrew family it has always been the mother’s joy to educate her young children, and then later their father’s will take over as their children are reaching 13 years of age, for the boys will be made ready for their “Bar Mitzvah”, that is when a boy reads his very first portion of the Torah in front of the congregation and he officially becomes a man! Girls have a “Bas Mitzvah”, which is very similar and she will be slowly prepared to become a bride at the right time in later years. PS: Bar is a male; Bas is female.

His Amazing Book:

The book of Isaiah that we have in our Scriptures today is in a good number of ways different to what was originally as written by the prophet and his scribe, for obviously they were written on parchment scrolls. In addition originally, there were no chapter numbers and no verse numbers and obviously no “chapter headings”.

It was for well over eleven hundred years when there were no chapter or verse numbers; however, I can say this, whoever in the Hebrew community divided the Book of Yeshayahu into chapters, strangely enough, they certainly did do an inspired work!

I am sure that by now you are getting a very clear message, but believe me, there is so much more to this amazing, and wonderful Book of אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name!

For if we look closely at its chapters, we will note that it summarises the message which deals with judgement, the anger and Elohim’s justice in dealing with the sins of man and mentions the promises of salvation that is to come.

Having now covered just a few of the Gems, the treasures that are found in this wonderful Book, which comes to us by a man who was called by our Heavenly Father, which we read in chapter 6 of his book.

Let us now read Yeshayahu - Isaiah 6:1-9.

“In the year that king Uzziah died I saw יְהוָה - the Lord sitting upon a throne high and lifted up, and His train filled the temple. Above Him stood the seraphim; each one had six wings: with twain he covered his face and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly. And one called unto another, and said: Holy, holy, holy, is צְבָאוֹת-יְהוָה - the LORD of Tzva’ot (Hosts); the whole earth is full of His glory. And the posts of the door were moved at the voice of them that called, and the house was filled with smoke. Then said I: Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for mine eyes have seen the King, צְבָאוֹת-יְהוָה - the LORD of Tzva’ot. Then flew unto me one of the seraphim, with a glowing stone in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar; and he touched my mouth with it, and said: Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin expiated. And I heard the voice of יְהוָה - the LORD, saying: Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said: ‘Here am I; send me’. And He said: ‘Go, and tell this people: hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not’”.

Amazingly, Isaiah considered himself “a man of unclean lips”, and this also proves that Elohim, does not just pick people who are ‘without sins’ and’ perfect’, but the point is, that Isaiah very quickly admitted his faults! אֱלֹהִים - Elohim will pick His servants, who may not be perfect, but knowing their heart will call them to do His work, and see their lives change remarkably!

Even though there is so much more in this amazing book, but I feel what you have read so far will, I pray, lift you up and become so much closer to יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ - the LORD our Eloheinu, בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - ‘Baruch Shem Kadosho’ - ‘Blessed be His Holy Name!’
