Re Tanakh versions:

Throughout this site I may use any of three versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2“Mechon-Mamre.org (MEC), and 3. “Sefaria.org (SEF), three brilliant versions, However, the JPS-1917 is my preferred version!

Colour coded details of our beloved TaNaKh:

1. Torah = History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim all other Writings.

*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

Please Note: Some alterations or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

“Keep a Strong Faith”

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

No matter what today looks like, remember to keep your faith strong. אֱלֹהִים - Elohim can change your story and turn ‘sorrow’ into ‘joy’. His timing is never late, it is always perfect!

Keep praying, never give up; for miracles happen every day, thus never stop believing, for Elohim can change things very quickly in your life. That is only, if you will trust in אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, בָּרוּךְ שֵׁם קָדוֹשׁוֹ - ‘Baruch Shem Kadosho’ - ‘Blessed be His Holy Name’!

Let us now read Isaiah Chapter 55, verses 8-9:

כִּי לֹא מַחְשְׁבוֹתַי מַחְשְׁבוֹתֵיכֶם, וְלֹא דַרְכֵיכֶם דְּרָכָי-נְאֻם, יְהוָה

כִּי-גָבְהוּ שָׁמַיִם, מֵאָרֶץ-כֵּן גָּבְהוּ דְרָכַי מִדַּרְכֵיכֶם, וּמַחְשְׁבֹתַי מִמַּחְשְׁבֹתֵיכֶם

“8. For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith יְהוָה - the LORD. 9. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts”.

Verse 8 contains without doubt a very obvious statement, which I am sure we all understood well. Thus let us turn to verse 9, which is somewhat different.

The Meaning of verse 9:

It uses the ultimate physical distance, the heavens and the earth to illustrate the spiritual distance between ‘human logic’ and ‘Divine wisdom’.

In fact it explains that while humans struggle to ‘forgive’ or ‘change’, אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s capacity for ‘mercy’ and ‘renewal’ is infinitely above human nature!

Jeremiah 29:11: (אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s Beneficial Thoughts).

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith יְהוָה - the LORD, thoughts of ‘peace’, and not of ‘evil’, to give you a ‘future’ and a ‘hope’”.

Meaning of verse 11: This provides a deep comfort alongside Isaiah’s above. While אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s thoughts are hidden and are very different from ours, this verse guarantees that His hidden intentions toward us are always rooted in ultimate ‘peace’ (shalom) and a ‘good future’.

Job 11:7-8: (The Limit of Human Search).

“Canst thou by searching find out אֱלֹהִים - Elohim? Canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection? It is high as heaven; what canst thou do? Deeper than the nether-world; what canst thou know?”

The Meaning: This poetic challenge from the book of Job and it echoes the scale of Isaiah 55. It emphasizes that human intellect simply lacks the capacity to map out, or fully comprehend the boundaries of the precious Divine mind!
