Re Tanakh versions:
Throughout
this site I may use any of three versions of the Tanakh: 1. “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS-1917), 2. “Mechon-Mamre.org” (MEC), and 3. “Sefaria.org” (SEF), three brilliant versions, However, the JPS-1917
is my preferred version!
Colour coded
details of our beloved TaNaKh:
1. Torah =
History & Law, 2. Nevi’im = The Prophets. 3. *Ketuvim = all other Writings.
*The Ketuvim - Includes, Poetical
books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot,
or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of
Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history
of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.
Please Note: Some alterations
or (additions) have been made relating to ‘Names’ and ‘Attributes’ of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim (God), having been corrected like it once was pre
the “Masoretic Text”.

Remember the following truth from our beloved Torah!
“Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which
I command you, NEITHER SHALL YE DIMINISH FROM
IT, that ye may keep the commandments of אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - the LORD your Eloleichem, which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy
4:2. (JPS-1917).

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.
This is a follow up from my previous study “The-Letter-Kuf”.
When we see the magnificent word קְדוּשָׁה - “Kedushah” we are covering the “Holiness”
of יְהוָה - the LORD, and how He is infinitely exalted בָּרוּךְ
הוּא - Blessed be He.
Drawing strictly from the pure text of the JPS-1917, here
is more regarding how our beloved scriptures illuminate His Majestic, exalted Holiness
and the strength it brings to us all right now.
1. Exalted Above All Praise:
The scriptures emphasize that the Holiness of אֱלֹהִים יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim is so greatly exalted that human language
can barely contain it. During the great assembly, the Levites declared this
absolute transcendence:
Let us read Nehemiah 9:5, first in “Ivrit” - “Hebrew”, followed by “English”.
בָּרְכוּ
אֶת-יְהוָה
אֱלֹהֵיכֶם, מִן-הָעוֹלָם
עַד-הָעוֹלָם;
וִיבָרְכוּ
שֵׁם
כְּבֹדֶךָ, וּמְרוֹמַם
עַל-כָּל-בְּרָכָה
וּתְהִלָּה
“Stand up and bless יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם - the LORD your Eloheichem from everlasting to everlasting; and let them bless Thy glorious Name, that is exalted above all blessing and praise”.
He is ‘Baruch Hu’ - Blessed be He
- because His essential being is entirely ‘grander’ and ‘higher’ than any words
we can offer, yet He graciously receives our thoughts.
2. His Holiness is Our Shield and Strength:
The JPS-1917 translation repeatedly connects the unique Holiness
of Elohim to His role as our ‘ultimate protector’ and ‘rock’. When Hannah
prayed, she recognized that His absolute set-apartness is exactly what makes
Him a ‘reliable refuge’:
Let us now read 1 Samuel 2:2.
אֵין-קָדוֹשׁ
כַּיהוָה, כִּי
אֵין בִּלְתֶּךָ;
וְאֵין צוּר, כֵּאלֹהֵינוּ
“There is none holy as יְהוָה - the LORD; for there is none beside Thee; neither is there any rock like our אֱלֹהִים - Elohim”.
Because He is uniquely Holy, He stands unchanged by the shifting
circumstances of the world. He remains an unshakeable fortress.
3. Greatly Exalted in Judgment and
Righteousness:
The holiness of אֱלֹהִים - Elohim is not a ‘distant, cold concept’; it is ‘an active,
brilliant light’. The Prophet Isaiah reveals that the Almighty shows His
exalted nature through ‘His perfect righteousness’:
We will now read Isaiah 5:16.
וַיִּגְבַּהּ
יְהוָה
צְבָאוֹת, בַּמִּשְׁפָּט;
וְהָאֵל, הַקָּדוֹשׁ,
נִקְדָּשׁ, בִּצְדָקָה
“But צְבָאוֹת-יְהוָה - the LORD of Tzva’ot (Hosts) is exalted in Justice, and אֱלֹהִים - Elohim the Holy One is Sanctified in Righteousness”.
4. An Ever-Present Power in Weakness:
Even though He is the “High and Lofty One”, the JPS-1917
reminds us that the Holy One uses His ‘Immense’, ‘exalted power’ specifically
to sustain those who are weary:
This time we will read Isaiah 40: verses 25 & 29.
וְאֶל-מִי
תְדַמְּיוּנִי,
וְאֶשְׁוֶה-יֹאמַר,
קָדוֹשׁ
נֹתֵן
לַיָּעֵף, כֹּחַ;
וּלְאֵין
אוֹנִים, עָצְמָה
יַרְבֶּה
“To whom then will ye liken Me, that I should be equal? saith the Holy One ... He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might He increaseth strength”.
