Please do NOT visit this online on Shabbat or during the Yom Tovim (Feasts)!

Please Note: On this page I may show the four letter blessed *“Memorial Name” of the Almighty in Ivrit - יְהוָה - YHVH, blessed be His Sanctified Name, which we usually pronounce as “Adonai” (LORD) or “HaShem” (The NAME). At all times please treat the most blessed Name with sanctity and when we hear or say, or even see the Name, יְהוָה, we should say, “blessed be His Sanctified Name.”

Note: The Sacred Name should ONLY be used during our personal Tefilot or Berachoth & Torah studies, but never during a general conversation, etc!

Throughout this site I will use three versions of the TaNaKh ... “Jewish Publication Society” (JPS), “Sefaria.com” (SEF) & “Mechon-Mamre.org” (MEC) - Torah = History & Law / Nevi’im = Prophets / Ketuvim = Writings).

*Ketuvim include: Poetical books - Psalms, Proverbs, Job, the Megillot, or Scrolls - Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations of Jeremiah, Ecclesiastes, and Esther, prophecy of Daniel, and history of Ezra, Nehemiah, and Chronicles I & II.

*Although some minor alterations have been made relating to Names and Attributes having been corrected to the original Ivrit writings as found in Yisrael and the scrolls there, during my studies there for one of my doctorates being in ancient Ivrit through to Paleo, and a PhD on Religion, etc.

יְהוָה - ברוך שמו לעולם - “Baruch Shmo Le’olam” – “Blessed be His Name forever”, which we were forced to pronounce it as “Adonai” (LORD) or “HaShem” (The NAME). Even over two thousand years before that it was used in prayers and services, etc!

However, at all times please treat the most Sacred Name with Great Sanctity and when we say, or even see the Name, יְהוָה, we should say, ברוך שמו לעולם - “Baruch Shmo Le’olam” -Blessed be His Name forever”. And remember: The Sacred Name should ONLY be used during our personal תפילה - Te’fee’lah or בְּרָכָה - Be’ra’chah & Torah Studies, but never during a general conversation, etc!

*Although some minor alterations have been made relating to Names and Attributes having been corrected to the original Ivrit writings as found in Yisrael and the scrolls there, during my studies, etc.

“Kabbalah and the Occult”

Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben-Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

The Kabbalah, although so heavily rooted in occultic Jewish mysticism, incorporates elements that some might consider it totally diverging from our traditional teachings directly from our blessed Torah. However, most have no idea what the “Kabbalah” really is all about?

Below you will find a side-by-side comparison highlighting the huge differences:

Analysis:

Aspect

Kabbalah

Torah

Nature of Elohim

Ein Sof (Infinite, unknowable)

יְהוָה (Personal, covenantal)

Creation

Tzimtzum (Divine contraction)

Creation ex nihilo (Out of nothing)

Divine Attributes

Sefirot (Ten emanations)

Singular, indivisible Elohim

Revelation

Mystical, esoteric

Direct, historical (Horeb - Sinai)

Law

Dynamic, evolving

Immutable & eternal

Spiritual Practice

Mysticism, meditation & trances

Commandments, rituals

1 ... Nature of Elohim:

Kabbalah:

Emphasizes Ein Sof, being a Hebrew term that means “infinite” or “(there is) no end”. In Kabbalah, it refers to God before the creation of the spiritual realm.

Torah:

Focuses on YHVH-Special-white-sml.jpg, a personal Elohim who enters into a covenant with Israel and is known through His actions and commandments.

2 ... Creation:

Kabbalah:

Describes creation through “Tzimtzum” which is a Hebrew word that means “contraction” or “withdrawal.” It’s a concept in ‘Lurianic Kabbalah’ that describes how God created the universe by limiting the infinite light of the Godhead, where God contracts Himself to create a space for the universe.

Torah:

Describes creation “ex nihilo”, where Elohim speaks the world into existence “out of nothing.”

3 ... Divine Attributes:

Kabbalah:

Uses the concept of Sefirot are the ten “emanations” or “attributes” of God in Kabbalah, a form of Jewish mysticism. The word “sefirot” comes from the Hebrew word s’firah, which means “emanation” or “manifestation” through which Elohim interacts with the world.

Torah:

Maintains a firm faith and belief in a singular, indivisible YHVH-Special-white-sml.jpg Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name, who is One and Unique!

4 ... Revelation:

Kabbalah:

It is “mystical” and “esoteric”, meaning having a “secret” or a “hidden meaning”, “mysterious”, “mystical” and simply “occultic”. In fact there is even mentions of a hidden chapter, a type of “Shamanic Trance” in the Kabbalah. It is “esoteric” thus “mystical” but simply “occultic”.

Torah:

It was given direct and historically, and given directly to Moshe - Moses at Mount Horeb in a clear and an accessible manner.

5 ... Law:

Kabbalah:

Sees the Torah “Mitzvot” – the “Law” as dynamic and “evolving” subject to change and subject to mystical interpretation and rabbinic deeper meanings.

Torah:

Views the Torah “Law” as “immutable” and “eternal”, with commandments that are timeless and unchanging, regardless the rabbis evil attempts!

6 ... Spiritual Practice:

Kabbalah:

Involves mystical and occultic practices. But Jonathan Garb also states; “Bringing to light a hidden chapter ... Shamanic Trance in the Kabbalah explores the shamanic dimensions of Jewish mysticism.

Torah:

Focuses wholly on Elohim’s commandments, our given rituals and ethical living.

Below is a further comparison of certain Kabbalistic teachings that some believe conflict with traditional Torah teachings, presented from a Hebraic perspective. This analysis aims to highlight areas of divergence while respecting both traditions.

The Kabbalah’s concept of Elohim:

Ein Sof - אין סוף.

Describes Elohim as the “Infinite” or “Endless One,” an abstract and unknowable essence beyond all attributes.

Sefirot - ספירות.

Introduces ten emanations or attributes through which the Ein Sof reveals Himself and interacts with the world.

Torah - יהוה.

All of the Torah presents Elohim, blessed be He, as a singular, personal deity who is directly involved in the world and reveals Himself through prophetic communications!

Unique Oneness ייחוד.

Emphasizes the absolute oneness of Elohim, as declared in the “Shema Yisroel YHVH Eloheynu, YHVH Echad” – “Hear O Israel: YHVH-Special-white-sml.jpg our Elohim, YHVH-Special-white-sml.jpg is ONE”. Devarim - Deuteronomy 6:4. (JPS – the “Jewish Publication Society”).

Conflict:

The multiplicity implied by the Sefirot by the Kabbalist’s must be seen as completly conflicting to the Torah’s very strict teaching regarding “monotheism”, for they are potentially introducing a form of “dualism” or fragmentation akin to “pagan polytheistic” concepts.

Conclusion:

From a Hebraic understanding, Kabbalistic teachings introduce concepts that differ from the true interpretations of the Torah. These differences very much around the center regarding the nature of Elohim, His creation, the purpose of all the 613 blessed Commandments, the Spiritual practices, Concepts of the afterlife, and the pursuit of knowledge.

While they will say that Kabbalah seeks to deepen the spiritual experience within Judaism, believe me, it takes those who even dare to enter it into the depths of evil and as it has been clearly outlines by their own words into the occult! Critics argue that many elements parallel ideas found in wicked pagan philosophies, totally conflicting with the teachings of our blessed Torah’s of pure monotheism and straightforward obedience to the Law as given by YHVH-Special-white-sml.jpg Elohim, blessed be His Sanctified Name!

It's important to approach this comparison with respect for the diversity within Jewish thought. Sadly, there are those within parts of Judaism, especially a Jewish group known as the “Chabad-Lubavitcher’s” who are completly tied to the Kabbalah, for their head Rabbi was an ardent teacher of the Kabbalah. However, rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson passed away on June 12, 1994 – 3 Tammuz 5754, But soon after, his community commenced to print cards, had busses driving around America, as well in Israel. It was whilst I was in Yisroel, I was given one of those small full colour cards published by the Chabad Lubavitcher’s which has a photo of the late Rabbi Schneerson and written below his image in Ivrit – Hebrew and English is … “This is the God Mashiach”.

Rabbi Schneerson sadly was a greatly misled man for as I said above, he was an ‘ardent teacher’ of this mystical and occultic Kabbalah!

Sadly when we are being continually taught error, we certainly will not find any profound meaning in these Kabbalistic teachings, for you will end up not only loosing your way, but your life!

We need to return to successfully integrate ourselves with traditional Torah observance. The debate over these differences reflects Jewish theology which is so dynamic and then only what is 100% factual as shown in our beloved Torah/Tanakh based on what is written.

Please beware of that so-called “Oral-Law” surely do we simply believe whatever you are told and just do that? I pray not, but that so-called ‘Oral Law’ is 100% man written, no matter what rabbi’s tell you. No it was not given to Moshe! If it had, WHY is there not a single mention of it anywhere in the Torah! We need to wake up and discover it is more related to, guess what, the “Kabbalah!”

For interest, let me give you one law found in that hideous “Oral law”. “Men, you must tie a rope around your waist (or in these more modern days it said, (a tight belt)”. You may well ask - WHY? Well, as it states “because your heart must not see something that is located hanging below your waist, if you get what I mean. Now there is no mention in the Torah regarding this, and it is a very mad and a bad mind who added that rubbish. Also, where is it written to do the following; To swing one or even two chickens around our head as part of the “Kapparot” ritual on the Eve of Yom Kippur. The ritual involves waving the chicken over the head three times while reciting a prayer. However, somehow they lost their way, for it was originally part of a pagan custom, and here are so-called religious Jews doing it also!

On the other hand, the Kabbalists (led by mystics such as Rabbi Isaac Luria and Rabbi Isaiah Horowitz) perceived in this custom as a ‘mystical significance’. Rabbi Moshe Isserlis (the major 16th century scholar, known as the ‘RaMA’), whose interpretations of the Shulchan Arukh (Code of Jewish Law) are authoritative for Jews of Eastern European descent, also endorsed the custom of Kapparot as valid and proper. This greatly enhanced the popularity of the Kapparot ritual down to the present day. The Baal Shem Tov, founder of Hasidism, also practiced kapparot, and most Hasidic communities are still in favour of keeping the custom as part of their traditions. Some Jews actually believe that, although this is not officially ‘a sacrifice’, it keeps the concept of ‘sacrifices’ alive.

How can we as Jews follow Avraham’s evil father Terach who was a pagan and a maker of those hideous images of evil deities.

I am well aware, that this has not been the easiest of studies to read, for it is a rather heavy piece, but I am sorry, it is one that is needed for today, for so many Shul’s are suddenly teaching Kabbalah at a AU$150 per session. And this is not just the Orthodox Synagogues, but even Conservative Shul’s, but also the more Liberal ones are doing it as well. Father Elohim, יוֹם טוֹב שָמֵחַ why is our beautiful faith going down hill so fast? The Kabbalah is an evil curse on Judaism.

It is my heart’s desire to see many of our beloved Yidden return again to our beloved Elohim, ברָכ שְׁמוֹ לְעוֹלָם - “Baruch Shmo Le’olam” - “Blessed be His Name”, in the fullness of His wonderful Torah, keeping our beloved Shabbat, the Yom Tovim, and of course attend their local Shul!

In Conclusion, a Question to Deepen the Conversation:

Which part of this Tanach study or possibly a particular line or statement within it has touched you the most? And how do you feel about spending more time studying our beloved Tanakh? I pray that you are doing well as a faithful Hebrew, and אֱלֹהִים - Elohim willing you are upholding as many as possible of our blessed Mitzvoth’s?

I am well aware that the modern world sadly contains too many deviations as well as problems that seem to get in the way of our Hebrew lifestyle. Yet worse than that, these days there are far too many enticements, which can so easily throw many off track, and I know that has happened far too much. Thus, if there are struggles that are taking place in your life, be it at this or at any time, I am well aware that sadly it can often have a terrible and a cruel effect upon your life?

Dear reader, please remember this, pray for peace and solitude in your life, and then work on keeping as calm as possible and learn to improve your life, for אֱלֹהִים,  בָּרוּךְ אֱלֹהִים - Bless Elohim, He is always there and ready to help and guide you!

This site was originally set up for those who needed to return to our blessed and wonderful faith, thus be wise and work on your faith and pray at least three times a day, and always seek אֱלֹהִים - Elohim’s guidance!

Remember what אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, blessed be He, said the following via a number of our prophets...

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָהthe LORD of hosts”. Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. MEC).

And Remember ...

Enjoy your Sabbath Rest, Shabbat Shalom!

אֲנִי יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶםבְּחֻקּוֹתַי לֵכוּוְאֶת-מִשְׁפָּטַי שִׁמְרוּוַעֲשׂוּ אוֹתָם

“I am אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה (the LORD your God); walk in My statutes, and keep Mine ordinances, and do them; and hallow My Sabbaths, and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that ye may know that I am אֱלֹהֵיכֶם יְהוָה - YaHVaH Elohim”. Yechezkel - Ezekiel 20:19-20. (JPS).
