Remember the following two truth’s from our beloved Scriptures!

Ye shall NOT ADD TO THE WORD which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of יְהוָה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם (the LORD your Eloleichem) which I command you”. Davarim - Deuteronomy 4:2. (JPS-1917).

“Elohim or God?

With Rabbi, Dr. Reuven Ben Avraham-Goossens, PhD.

Just before the study, I would like to provide one further vital quote from the book of Yahoshua - Joshua Ch 1:7-8. (JPS-1917 vesion).

Be strong and courageous. Be careful to obey the entire Torah My servant Moshe has given you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Do not let this Book of the Torah depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

Please Note:

1. This page contains the most Holy Name of the Almighty (“YAH”).

2, This study has been written that we might know and understand the Name as well as the Attribute of our beloved Heavenly Father, ברוך שמו לעולם - “Baruch Shmo Le'olam” - “Blessed be His Name forever”!

3. If you print this page, I ask that you treat the Sanctified Name with the appropriate respect it deserves.

Shemot - Exodus 3:15 very clearly states;

“Thus you shall say to the Children of Israel: ‘יְהוָה - the LORD Elohim, of your fathers, the אֱלֹהִים - Elohim of Avraham, the Elohim of Yitzchak, and the Elohim of Ya’akov, has sent me to you. This is My Name Forever, and this is My Memorial to all Generations’”. Shemo – Exodus 3:15. JPS-1917).

We need to understand that there were many pagan deities around in ancient times, including one who was known as “Ba’al Gaad” or “Gad” later pronounced as “Gawd”.” We can read about this pagan deity in Yeshayahu - Isaiah 65:11, where he people Israel was warned as follows;

“But you are those who forsake יְהוָה, who forget My Holy mountain, Who prepare a table for Gad  (being the Syrio-Babylonian deity of fortune), and who furnish a drink offering for Meni (the deity of destiny).” Yeshayahu - Isaiah 65:11.

The words of the prophet Isaiah demonstrates the widespread worship of these two false deities whose name was “Gad,” which Judah had sadly embraced along with another false deity named “Meni.” (JPS-1917).

The evil name of “Ba’al-gad” is also mentioned in Yahushua - Joshua 11:17 as well as in other books.

“From the bare mountain, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon; and all their kings he took, and smote them, and put them to death”. Yahushua - Joshua 11:17. (JPS-1917).

This Syrian idol Baal Gad was considered to be a very powerful deity who was supposed to control the planet Jupiter, and this evil deity was a part of ancient Semitic worship, and it was later embraced by many successive nations, including Greece and as we know also in Rome, for in Roman mythology, Jupiter is the ruler of all the deities, the son of the deities Saturn, whom he overthrew. Thus in Rome this Gad or associated deities were considered to be very powerful indeed and the word we now know as “God” is in reality the very name of this evil pagan deity!

This deity became well known at some time in Europe, and Rabbis (and Christians) due to various scripture translators inadvertently expanded the phonetic vocalization of “Gad, to Gawd” but eventually it became “God”, and it was they who substituted, “God,” instead of using אֱלֹהִים - “Elohim” in local languages’ (pending the country we live) throughout the World.

However as is clearly shown in Mal’a’chi - Malachi chapter 2, verses 1 to 4 & 8, gave a most powerful message to the priests, and rabbis, who were guilty for “of not honouring Elohim’s Name”, and our Heavenly Father cursed them severely!

1. And now, O priests, this charge is for you:

2. Unless you obey and unless you lay it to heart, and do honour to My Name said Elohim of Hosts, I will send a curse and turn your blessings into curses. Indeed, I have turned them into curses, because you do not lay it to heart.

3. I will put your seed under a ban, and I will strew dung upon your faces, the dung of your festal sacrifices, and you shall be carried out to its heap.

4. Know, then, that I have sent this charge to you that My covenant with Levi may endure, said Elohim of Hosts.”

8 “But you have turned away from that course: You have made the many stumble through your rulings; you have corrupted the covenant of the Levites, said Elohim of Hosts.” Mal’a’chi - Malachi chapter 2:1-4 & 8. (JPS).

But did they listen? Obviously NOT, for they felt that they were greater than our blessed Creator of Heaven and Earth! Try and get out of this rabbis, for if you were really ‘truly faithful’ to our beloved אֱלֹהִים - Elohim, you would have restored the Sacred Name where it belongs, instead of using the words “Adonai” and “HaSHEM” - “the LORD” in capitals, instead of using the blessed four letter “Memorial Name - יְהוָה (YHVH) being the “Tetragrammaton. In the Ivrit (Hebrew) the word אֱלֹהִים - “Elohim” literally means, “Mightiest of the Mighty”.

Thus the question arises, why do we the Hebrews as well as Christians for that matter, use this hideous pagan word “god”, for as we now know that it is really the name of a pagan deity called god? And we all know that in the Tanakh, the attribute of our Heavenly Father, בָּרוּךְ הוּא - Blessed be He, is mostly “El” or “Elohim,” as well as other spellings such as אֱלֹהֶיךָ אֱלֹהֶיךָ - Eloheicha, thus, we should ONLY use what is in our blessed Tanakh, being the attribute that distinguishes our Elohim, the Creator of Heaven and the Earth, from that evil deity, gawd’ or ‘gods’ of the greater pagan world! But then there was also a rabbi, who in early second CE created the worldly mystical based ‘Zohar’ which became part the occultic Kabbalah even the Talmud!

However, for some strange reason priests and rabbis of old who sadly had lost the plot, just like in the days of Yirmyahu - Jeremiah decided that “Gad” would be a name and indeed it was, but it was just not the name of our Elohim, the Almighty, and because of their error all of Judaism is using a filthy pagan name along with every other faith, and that is evil. These evil ones feel that we should be showing respect for God, and thus they are in fact revering this pagan god. Then the Chassidim decided to force most of us to write it as G-d, for this was assumed that it was so holy, but I am sorry it still remains the name of a filthy pagan god!

It is said that no one knows the true pronunciation of Elohim’s blessed Name, and I AM SORRY THAT IS A HIDEOUS LIE, this Rabbi knows it, for Elohim’s Memorial Name, blessed be His Sanctified Name, was never meant to be difficult!

Ask yourselves why so many of our Nevi’im (prophets) were named with part of Elohim’s blessed Name? For example Yeshayahu - Isaiah translates as Yah is salvation”. Also Yirmyahu – Jeremiah translates as “My Uplift is יְַּה - “Yah”, and the list just goes on! We know that “Yah” is the Name of Elohim as it is used countless times in the Tanakh. We know that it is the first part of the Sanctified Name, and that is very simple indeed, and it is glorious and so beautiful, making the name of יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים - (YHVH Elohim) blessed be His Sanctified Name, for it is beautiful and special as well as being very beautiful! The second part of Elohim’s Name “VaH” seem to have several interpretations meaning “bind together”, however, it can also be related to the verb “to be” (havah).

Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith צְבָאוֹת- יְהוָה- the LORD of hosts”. Mal’a’chi - Malachi 3:7. (JPS).
